Strangely enough, considering how freakishly skinny I was for my height, I'd never been seriously hurt to the body... and not for lack of sparring partners trying. I consistently kept my right hand too far back, over my ear, thinking I was a whole lot cuter than I actually was (guess I thought that more peripheral vision would make up for everything being so blurry), and caught by stupid shots to the temple that I had no right getting hit by.

I'm surprised that no one, other than Dr Gonzo, had the time warp. I was amazed at how quick my hands & sharp my focus suddenly were, then all proud that I took the shot beautifully, then get annoyed about the rabbit punch that followed, and finally realize that no one was where they were supposed to be. Figuring out that I had to get up was the hardest part. Figuring out that I should stick to being awful at sports I'd actually get school credit for was easy. Getting glasses eventually clued me into what some of the problem was.

I got hit once on the temple during sparring, didn't go down but the room started spinning around me like I was in zero grav. Then after the round was over I began feeling sick, almost fell like throwing up. The feeling lasted a couple of minutes, couldn't spar anymore.

Never been kncked out by a headshot but have been close. I remember everything was blurry and felt that everything that happened had happened before. I also told my friends that a felt like a tomato that had been turned into ketchup wich makes no sense at all. Have been knocked down by a body shot though to the liver. It was a really intense pain for just a couple of seconds then i felt just fine

I was almost knocked down with a body shot but i asked for a break. I swear, one punch and i would have hit the deck. Couldn't breath and panicked a little bit.

i remember being hit so hard that I thought I was in a different place than what I really was in. Of course I grabbed and held lol. That's when I came to the conclusion that I had a good chin. Cuz the punch I got hit with knocked another guy out cold. I recovered but Ive never been hit like that.

been dropped once, not in any of my fights, just sparring, walked onto a huge shot and woke up stood up feeling fine not knowing what had happened, still don't to this day, never been really hurt by a body shot but dropped a few people with them and can just see the pain etched on their faces

ive never been put down but sparring a dude with a good 15 on me I was hit flush for the first time in my life. left hook well more of an uppercut variation extremely odd angle and I felt like my body shut down. all I kould do was lay up on the ropes an catch shots with my gloves. I watched the tape for hours trying to figure out what and how I got hit. it was jus one of those shots that I kouldnt avoid. auggie told me I finally got my cherry popped haha

Aw jeez, I just remembered another occasion, again in sparring.

I didn't get knocked down or out or anything, but I came close lol.

I was sparring a pro from our gym, he would be described as a journey man, but anyone who knows the sport knows that these fighters really can fight. Well, he was training for a fight, and his opponent was going to be taller than him, longer reach. I weighed the same as him (140), but I was taller with a good reach so I was one of his main sparring partners. He just really practiced getting close to me you know.

Anyway, late in the sparring, I'm tired, I was backed to the ropes, I threw my left jab out, but brought it back low, about nipple height, rather than straight back to the chin (lesson learned). He came in over the top with a peach of a right hand right on the jaw. My head rocked to the right, on went sort of sideways, so it looked to me like I was going over because the world now 90 degress lol. It was like slow motion too, and everything darkened around the edges, almost like a sepia effect.

Felt like an eternity, but I came round in what must have been an instant, because I've never been so scared in my life when I relised I hadn't actually went down, and in fact I was standing in the corner with my hands down with Jamesy coming at me again lol! Very luckily the bell sounded shortly there after.

Again though, it wasn't sore at the time, could have been due to the headguard and bigger gloves, but over the next few days any I moved my jaw it was pretty painful

Oh yeah when you take a good punch the jaw hurts at the joints for a few days afterwords. Sometimes on both sides, not just the side you were hit on.

All these stories are great. Never really boxed myself before, but I respect the hell out of anyone that does.

Never been knocked out by a punch. Although a good shot to the jaw under the ear has made my ears ring.

I have however taken an elbow to the temple and it dropped me down instantly. I was conscious, but I couldn't see for about a good 4 seconds before my vision came back. I got up, but was "out on my feet" according to my father. Had a headache for a week, lol.

Boxed a bit as a kid, but stopped as I got into my mid-teens. But I've been bit by the boxing bug, and have been intrigued by the fighters and the sport since I was like 7.
