I know what people are judging this matchup on. But I was talking about what the other poster said about Jones being the greatest 168 pounder of all time. Which is disrespectful to all the other great fighters at the weight.

Maybe the most talented but not the GREATEST.

Benn overcame adversity against Galvano (I), Eubank (II) and McClellan when he was a big betting underdog to lose those fights but fought out of his skin to rightfully win them.

Many thought he couldn't beat Wharton, either, and some predicted him to lose to Morgan.

The super-middle Benn I much-preferred to the gung-ho middle Benn, apart from his last five fights. Although he did have those greatest stoppage wins against America's toughest at middle (DeWitt, Barkley, Sims).

I'm sure the other poster meant H2H. 168 hasn't been that deep through out his history.

I didn't mean to put Sherry, I was thinking of Wharton, dude could take a hell of a punch.

Perez proved to me Benn was the real deal, Perez had a longer reach, was taller and American(so I knew him before the fight). After being so reluctant to admit that this guy was real good I finally caved after this fight.

Malinga beat Benn but lost the rematch.

Nardiello beat Malinga. Connecting the dots on those two.

Didn't see the Mcclelan fight so I didn't feel I could give a good analysis.

I'd love to say they do, but they don't. I can ask 20 people if they know who Nigel Benn is, and I have next to no chance of any of them saying yes.

    :think

He was WBC #26 (before King somehow magically managed to have him placed him at WBC #10 after Steve Little pulled out five days before).

Yeah, I was speaking H2H. That was blurred in the original post but clarified later when I said that he was unbeatable at the weight.

Jones is crazy talented and I liked Benn as far as Europeans go. But if the fight happened it'd be in the USA and Jones would probably win. Too fast and would be content to outbox Benn over 12 or 10.

Either way I appreciate the history lesson from guys more knowledgeable on Benn than me.

He received serious brain damge, and now today is blind, deaf and has little or no permanent memory I think.

Jones has a better SMW than Benn.

McClellan and Wharton vs. Toney, Malinga and Thornton

    Benn did NOT beat Malinga.

    Must be thinking of Galvano.
