The guy in the black and white picture at the start of the video is Igor Vysotsky, 70's Soviet HW who KTFO Cuba's Stevenson and beat him both times they fought.
I am still looking for tapes on a prime Igor Vysotsky! I remember seeing him as a kid. He had the reputation of being able to knock his man out with either hand, up close or at a distance. Cuts was his drawback. Few know Vysostsky was a lefty, and Jewish. Not sure if either held him back in the cold war era where orthodox was the norm, and the Russians picked what they viewed as ethinic Russians before the rest first.
yes i have also heard he was jewish, where did you hear this? also there were interesting rumors that petr zaev got a got of gift decisions against him, ivanov, etc because of his father was high up in kgb, which is where zaev ended up also did you find the documentary on him on youtube??? its not bad so some of his fights, man the guy could hit
You mean he wrote with his left hand and was converted like DLH or Tyson? He fought orthodox. There's some footage in this doc [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzn9sXperFA[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tuGzQQ9n_M&feature=related[/ame] the Ali exibition sparring footage (i always hated Cossell and Ali's commentary. Vysotsky is a brutal two fisted power puncher, he's throwing little pitty pat shots and Ali is like "he's trying as hard as he can and going all out" atsch. That said Zaev seems to be going pretty hard but not Vysotsky or Gorstkov) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD5EvhtdMMA&feature=related[/ame] I just found this on Youtube, i doubt its authenticity though......:huh I read that the footage from their first fight in 73 was destroyed.
