Great card that. Two good fights, one surprising/hilarious fight and one OK fight.

A fight for the World Bantamweight title between Chamroen Songkitrat and champ Jimmy Carruthers remains the only title bout fought barefoot, as it was pissing it down

Famous western figure Wyatt Earp was more than just a Sheriff, he also
refereed a fight between Bob Fitzsimmons and Tom Sharkey. He eneded up
    disqualifying Fitzsimmons.

Eugene Criqui was injured in World War I, but still this did not prevent him from fighting. That would not be too unique except that he was shot in the jaw! It was replaced by a silver plate and was held together by wire. Talk about a fightger having a metal jaw.

Yes, and running off to escape getting battered.

Fitz dropped the bigger man early, and punished him throughout. Finally dropping Sharkey late with an uppercut IIRC, Earp, probably having money on Sharkey, DQ'd Fitz for a 'low blow' and fled

All accounts of the time have Fitz winning comfortably, and scorning Earp for his officiating. Leading into the fight there was some controversy about who would ref'....Earp wasn't a popular choice with the Fitz camp either, given his reputation as a bandit :-(

    From this weeks Boxing News:

This is an actual comment from a current fighter said in all seriousness after winning the WBF Light Middle Belt

'I have one of only SEVEN World Belts at this weight'

Sums the bizarre world of Boxing quite nicely I thought

Vince was an absolute inspiration to his Average Joes Gym dodgeball team. If he can bring that same spirit to Amidu all and good :good

There was of course that parachuting dick that landed in the ring when Holyfield fought Bowe first time. Loved how the security guys got stuck into him whilst he was all tangled up in the ropes

If the great Featherweight Sandy Sandler and Heavyweight Rocky Marciano ever fought Saddler would have a 2inch reach advantage.

Georges Carpentier fought in every division boxing had to offer starting as a flyweight and finishing as a heavyweight
