The SMW division is stronger than it has ever been. Will the best fight the best?

168 has never been stronger. This bears a few advantages. We can figure out who the best one is and we can have some legendary matchups in the process. But the question is after the super 6 will the best take on one another?

I sure hope so cause with the talent pool that exists right now we can have rivalries for many years to come. Bute is a big part of that. he needs to step up. Its going to be interesting. some quality prospects waiting in the wing as well. i think ward is going to be the last one standing and when the smoke settles be the greatest SMW of all time. but with this compeititon it wont be easy and on top of that someone can beat him and take that crown in the long run. very exciting times indeed.

ward-bute-kessler-froch those are the guys that should be fighting each other, they all have with the exception of bute but that will happen in 1/2 years I hope. I dont think it will be a one guy left standing situation more like what happened between cotto-mosley-marg.

It's nowhere near as strong as it was when Eubank, Jones, Toney, McClellan, Nunn, Benn, Barkley, Rocchigiani, Williams, Watson, Liles, Littles, Collins and Calzaghe et al graced it.

    We're talking universe's apart.

Yep, and it's due to weak ass fans who accept any hype the promoters and networks throw in their faces.
Look at Bute listed in the top elite and the bum hasn't even fought anyone.
The S6 eliminated some of the riff-raff, and had Bute been a apart of the tournament, he would be out on the side lines beside Taylor and Abrahams long ago.
Bute's management must be reading on page 5 of the Frank Warden cheery-picking manual.:rofl:rofl

I disagree. its stronge rnow. the problem is once teh era changes alot of people will look back on it and see how tough it was. its harder to see that during the present. but I cant wait for some exciting fights.

I still don't understand why Bute and Kessler aren't coming to a deal. Kessler vs Bute, Ward vs Froch. Winner meets winner. Loser can meet loser. Seems obvious to me.

I just don't see it personally. The likes of Ward and Dirrell are just athletic, no technical skills. Froch is just tall, rangey, relaxed and strong-boned - no technical skills. Kessler is one-dimensional and ordinary, but he can punch I suppose. This Bute guy I've not seen.

yeah I mean we will have a clearer picture in the next 10-15 years. I guess its tough to see how great this is right now(being that Super 6 didnt excel the way it was planned). But I hope to enjoy some wars.

Yeah, fans are guilty for that! They should just get out on the street and fire some cars, right? You should try to be more rational and less stupid.

SMW has never had anywhere near the depth it has now... that is a fact. It used to be seen as a ******* new division that was unnessesary.

Only the UK took it really seriously, for most other countries MW and LHW belts were the 'real ' divisions and fighters would often completely skip SMW or only take a few random fights.

Anyone who knows their boxing history knows this.

These days, on the other hand, it is a global division and one of the deepest in boxing.
