He's not better than Sergie, he is just younger and bigger. Liakovich might still beat him and if you transport the Liakovich from the Brewster fight, he would probably KO Helenius.
I agree if you could transport Liakovich from the Brewster fight but you can't he was 29 and now 35 and so so inactive just not going to happen and that is why the odds are so high.:goodHelenius younger stronger taller much longer reach an faster.
he's overrated if you listen to a bunch of fan boys. he's a good fighter who could do something if you listen to others. i think he's a good fighter. he's only had a handful of fights and seems to be coming along nicely. talking about him becoming champ is premature, he needs more time. so don't listen to those who say he's going to dethrone klitschko in a years time. his victory over peter was a good win for someone at his level. i thought it was a good performance. it was a risk, and it paid off. i know peter has been through the wars lately, but still, it was a good scalp. what do you want from a fighter who's had 15 fights? he'll beat liakhovich. he used to be decent fighter years ago, but his time has come and gone. he's not what he used to be. helenius by late stoppage.
i'm not a klit hugger. i think he could do some good things in the future. he's not great, but he's pretty good. give him time.
More skill? Peter is a punching bag with legs and was outboxing Helenius in spots. Helenius should beat Liakovich but I won't be shocked if he loses. I agree with the rest of your post.
This. The same idiots who are calling Helenius "unathletic" are the same morons who are waiting of Deontay Wilder to bring the belts back to America. Helenius has a long way to go, but after tomorrow he will have beaten three former titists in 16 fights- not a bad start. Regardless of what he learns or doesn't learn, he is huge, has power in either fist, ana good chin. Those qualities alone are going to garuntee him a good career.
you want him to have more skill? why can't you just see him for what he is? he's got good power, he's strong, his movement around the ring is not too bad. seems to have a good chin (for the time being anyway) it's not like the heavyweight division is full of fighters like lewis, holyfield, tyson etc etc... he doesn't need more skill. he'll do just fine the way he is. obviously he'll get better as time goes by. for a fighter with only 15 fights, he's doing the right things. i'll be pretty surprised if he doesn't pick up a title in the future.
Pretty much agree that the hype he is getting vastly overshadows his actual quality. But at the same time, I have nothing against him and never find anything wrong with fans supporting whoever, even if they are limited. I just dont think this guy will be anything close to a ruling figure in boxing, with, or without the klits. Just IMO though, I will be watching with interest for sure.
