the WBA is making it very clear they simply give title shots to Venezuela and Panama countrymen for no apparent reason than thats where they live...because its not who they have beaten..... The WBA did the same thing with Saul Alvarez's brother. He got KO'd, then beat two guys with only 7 fights combined and was given a shot at the WBA Interim title (vs Ishida coincidentally). He lost his next fight for the fake WBA regular belt, and now is fighting for the WBA Interim belt again vs Bumdine. WBA belts really are worthless now. I remember the WBA issued a statement before the Maidana-Morales fight, saying they understand and take into account fans concerns over having too many belts (lol, yea right), but they will create regular belts and interim belts whenever they please and offer them to whoever they please to allow as many fighters as possible to fight for belts, as having only one champ, especially a dominant one, those fighters wouldn't get the opportunity. They actually said this.
The WBA has so little credibility that no-one can really be surprised by anything they do. If they can find some way to get a sanctioning fee, they will.
Looking at their recent heavyweight history...Haye, Harrison and Skelton all fought for the title...WTF?...
WRONG the big TV networks should quit recognizing any fight for a WBA belt...as a title fight or world championship at stake.... HBO, SKY and whoever else is the big media outlet for boxing in their country....when pac fought hatton..i dont remember anyone in the telecast reporting that manny pac was the new IBO super lightweight champion..... but thats why boxing is becoming a joke.... or everyone can just get used to explaining stuff like this Andre Ward - current This content is protected This content is protected Brian Magee- current This content is protected This content is protected Karoly Balzsay - current This content is protected

the way they are going, they are dragging themselves so low in credibility and reputation that they could end up like an IBO calibre belt not recognised as a major title. fans have been sickened by their bull**** for some time now, and now hi-profile guys like manny steward are coming out and trashing them as a disgrace to the sport. probably won't happen, but they can't be doing any worse to make it possible. we can dream You know what's funnier? Mundine is claiming should he win that bogus WBA Interim belt beating Alvarez he will become the first fighter in history to win titles in 3 different weight classes going down in weight. This content is protected The media is eating it up and reporting it as truth. Not only is this interim title he;s fighting for bogus, the two WBA belts he won at super middleweight were mythical regular belts taken off the two guys who whooped his ass, Kessler and Ottke, when they were made super champions. His middleweight belt was the IBO. He's really a 0 division champ lol here are some more Mundine classics leading up to Alvarez, just for a laugh:
Actually Magee is the interim and Balzsay the regular champ but you are absolutely right in saying that this whole situation sucks big time.
