If you talk about the art of defense with most boxing fans nowadays, without a doubt the name Floyd Mayweather will be brought up. There is no doubt that Money Mayweather is probably the best defensive fighter in recent years.

As impressive as Mayweather's defense may be, he still falls quite short of the No. 1 spot on this list.
Given that Mayweather is an active fighter, many current boxing fans may think highly of him in terms of all time. But in this article we take a look back at the true and undeniable "best defensive fighters in the history of the sport."

Read on to find out who tops him on the list.

Glen is vulnerable to the uppercut in some of those exchanges, and that doesn't bode well for his upcoming tilt with Bute.

As for Pep, if he isn't as gifted defensively as Floyd, is in the same sentence.

You are probably another one basing Mayweather's greatness on his undefeated record.

If you knew a little bit of boxing history, you would know that Willie Pep was 61-0 when he suffered his first defeat.

The Pep-Graves thing is probably a myth.

A researcher for the IBRO found the newspaper article which described the alleged round as being filled with two way action

Stopped reading when I saw Ali at #5. In other words I didn't read any of it. The Bleacher Report sucks.

to me willie pep and sweet pea's defense was more reflex, speed and agility all which can fade in age. although mayweather relies on the same attributes, his style of defense is just as much as strategy (shoulder roll, elbow blocking, little **** like smothering punches to lessen impacts, etc.) as the aforementioned talents which can give mayweather a longer shelf life. i dont know what my point is but yea

Hopkins should be in here, not blessed with RJJ reflexes, but as far at textbook defence he gets 10/10
