It would be hilarious and a bit rediculous if Holy were to get the fight and win. But, I doubt he can beat Povetkin. He gave a decent account of himself against Valuev (some say he won) but Ibragimov outboxed Evander pretty decisively. Now he's older and Povetkin is just hitting his peak (whatever that is LOL )
When he bet Buster Douglas in the 90s and up to 1998 or so was his time to shine at his best. He was a good fighter who has a slight amount in the tank until 2005-06. He was a very past prime shot version of his old self in 2008 who needs to retire ( and even then he retires late. ). In two-four years he is a senior People 50 years old shouldn't fight. in your 40s if you are in the shape to, I guess go ahead. If your in late 40s or early 50s you shouldnt even be aloud.
Are you serious, Helenius is far too young and even though Holyfield will outbox Helenius, there will be a point in which he would be caught cold and we would need to be fearful for his life. I have all the respect in the world for Evander but its not good to be going in with these young guys and your all missing the point. Holyfield will always give his all and be competitive but you cant take these blows all your life, especially as he is so much easier to hit now than before...Come on people, I think that they shouldnt even grant him a licence personally. WHat would you all say if this ended tragically? How anyone can condone this fight is beyond me!!
Pretty funny how people were saying Holyfield was old since the 1st Tyson fight, Tyson was supposed to knock Holyfield out.
Holyfield has been past-prime since '94 & shot since 2000. It's true he was widely considered to be washed-up & only last a few rounds with Tyson in '96... the "over & under" for the fight was 3 rounds!
Holyfield has been a shell for nearly a decade. He can't beat Povetkin at this stage and I don't care to see Holyfield lose to somebody who he would've annihilated during his better days.
Holyfield better not get robbed if he wins, he deserved that belt a few years back when he easily beat Valuev and got robbed
Thats what I am saying but the good news is Potvekin will fight your traditional mans fight and thats Evanders kind of fight... I know we all wished Evander would retire, but if he must fight on why should I or how Could I abandon that man who gave the sport so much? I wouldnt be a real fan in doing that.... Now I understand how and why Foreman had so many fans when he fought his way back and also like Hopkins, lets hope Evander comes out safe but how amazing would it be for him to beat Hopkins shortly lived record?:thumbsup
Evander has heart and he could still beat someone good. However I think for all the top 10 guys he fights, he could beat maybe half of them, but that is because he might beat the 5-10 guys, but not really the 1-5. He could beat some of those guys not because Evander is still great, but because the heavyweights are terrible. Heavyweights have never been a great division really. The thing Evander had over most heavyweights is his will to win and how he got in shape for every fight. A guy could beat Evander, but they had to fight to beat him, even now a little. Although I think the Klitchkos and Haye would beat Evander easily now. Evander still fighting at heavyweight and doing ok shows how bad the heavyweights are since Evander has been past his prime since 1999 or so. What does that say about heavyweights. It is true Evander wants to keep fighting regardless of losing a few times pretty conclusively.
