This point continues to be nonsensical. Of course having a significant weight advantage helps any fighter in any fight. It helps with your own shots carrying extra weight/power, it helps with your own ability to absorb a shot, it helps with your strength in the clinch, and that's before you even explore the fact that Floyd was comfortable at his optimum fighting weight vs Marquez, and Marquez was not anywhere near his optimum fighting weight and shape vs Mayweather.

This "he didn't use his size" point really is bloody stupid. You make Floyd pack on 7lbs, weigh in at 154, and have him fight a taller, longer middleweight who weighed in at 158 then rehydrated higher, and let's see if size doesn't make the slightest bit of difference to a boxing match. Even if that middleweight did not try to bomb Floyd out, of course all of the related weight issues play heavily, heavily into his favour for the boxing match at hand.

    Unbelievable! :nut

Yeah right, so Floyd coming off 21 yr old at 33 was prime, But Oscar coming off a KO win at 34 was way past it.

Well if that taller, longer, middleweight happened to come from the same lower weight classes as Floyd then he would deserve some amount of credit for beating Floyd if he happened to outcounter and and outbox Floyd......Which is what Floyd did. And Floyd didn't rehydrate up in weight all that significantly so lets stop that please.....According to Ring mag he was 152 on fight night which is not high at all in comparison to other WW's who have come into fights as middleweights.

i watched this fight yesterday, like people have said it was the the way that Floyd beat him that impresses me the most, he didn't out muscle him or use his weight to an advantage, he kept it in the middle of the ring and simply out boxed him. the commentators kept on saying that Floyd was too fast and too strong but strength had nothing to do with it. he looked alot bigger but jmm still didnt land a telling blow in the whole fight now thats skill

This is the way I see it as well.

I wasn't overly impressed with the win itself as Marquez was clearly outmatched, but the performance and manner of victory was unbelievable.

since weight is a none issue, so there should be no difference at all if floyd fights donaire at 147 if he does not physically impose on donaire. that would be legit and masterful too?

As for De Lahoya - Floyd, Floyd was chasing DLH around for years before they fought

That was a slow, bloated version of Marquez vs Mayweather at his optimum weight.

Yea because being heavier than someone does not help you absorb a punch better. oh wait it does.
If you can take someones punches without worrying you fight alot better.

Considering Marquez barely landed a punch, i dont se how that matters.

It wasn't the weight Marquez had a problem with, it was the fighter. Some of you guys don;t seem to know a thing about boxing. Great fighters make competitve fights, even at higher weight.

jmm has never been a speed demon thats not what his game is about, yes he did look slow but would it have been any different at a lower weight floyd has and always will be faster than jmm.

BTW what do you make of pac having the fight at a catchweight? bet in your eyes he's not slow and bloated for that lol
