Hopefully it will be a great night of boxing with only time telling us if one of these two are gonna be good world champions. Personally i think Cleve has a better chance than Bellew but then who am i to say.:good

Yes but at what cost? And if they really wanted world titles then they've never had it so good.

It would be easier to make sense of the Beeb's stance if they said why they weren't interested but I'd be surprised if they couldn't see beyond the world title packaging and lack of quality in fights like this, Burns v Laryea, Cook etc.

Funny how ****** had constant snides at Haye for the Harrison fight, yet he produces Burns-Cook and Cleverly-Bellew back to back.

But I will still watch it like all of you, we can't help it.

This is still a possible barn-stormer as they both like to scrap, should be a fun fight when you think about it!

This is better than Burns' recent defences, by a country mile. I'll give Frank that. Those fights had no interest whatsoever.

Not really this will draw a very lively a big crowd in Liverpool, expect some atmosphere and hopefully the action will be decent.

This "crap" has been going on since the sport was invented so it must be getting destroyed very, very slowly.

Well what do you expect from wank farren...typical wank farren WBO mockery bollocks.

Coming from the same **** rag who thought evensen, laryea and cook were acceptable opponents for his 'world champ' burns. And salita for khan.

Wank farren makes the shittest fights possible for the shittest belts possible everybody knows this

If TV companies want it, and fans want it, then that's a good enough reason.

    Crazy sentiment imo.

The world titles lost a lot of meaning in the 80's.

Cleverly isn't the best lhw in the world defending his crown.

If bellew wins this he can call himself the best in britain and a world class fighter.

He won't be the top dog of the division, you have to go through nard for that.

The prize is unification, the modern era dictates this.

You win a strap and do your best to climb to the top of the division, once there you clean out your division by unifying.

People need to get away from the pre 80's concept of linearity. There isn't 1 championship everyone fights for anymore.

There's 4 belts which mean the same, the man makes the belt. In this division wbc is the main because hopkins owns it.

In ww wbo is the main because pac owns it.

Much more about rankings and unification today.

And on the 'Cleverly isn't a real world champion' point that a few people have made, it is not his fault that Braehmer pulled out, he was trying to win the belt in the ring from a beltholder, and does seem genuinely keen to fight the top guys in the division to legitimize his claim to be a world champion. So my biggest beef with the Bellew fight is that I wanted Cleverly to fight a top guy in the division at this point, effectively to compensate for the fact that the Braehmer fight never happened, so he could legitimize his claim to be a champion.

I am really looking forward to the Bellew/Clevery fight, it is a great Euro-level matchup, it is just almost a shame that it is at this point, for me. Had it come earlier, before Clev got the WBO title, then it would have just been seen as a great fight for UK fans. Had it come later, when Clev had cemented himself as a champion by fighting a couple of live opponents at world level, and Bellew had, say, won the European title, then again people would be inclined to say that this it was a legitimate matchup between a solid champion and a worthy challenger, as Brit, Comm and Euro holders are very credible world title challengers, and Cleverly would have had fights that would have people accept him as champion.

Unforunately it did not happen earlier, and Bellew seems unlikely to be at LHW long enough for it to happen later. So it is a great domestic matchup with a world belt on the line, which leaves the fight open to criticism. If this happened between two German fighters we would all cry foul...

So it is a shame; as a fight I seriously like it, but for me it is taking place in a no man's land where a few negative factors creep in.

At this point, given that there is a world strap attached to it, I think that Bellew has not done enough to merit the shot, and I don't think that Cleverly has done enough to merit picking domestic defences while claiming to be a world champion. That said, I can see why they both took it, I would have said yes had I been in either one of their positions, and it is a great fight for domestic fans.

Hope that my rambling has not clouded my point - I like the fight, and like both fighters, but can understand some of the criticism levelled at it.

Cleverly still wouldn't be a real world champion even if he'd have fought Braehmer for the WBO title.
