Berto was brought in to win, Zaveck was brought in to lose

Berto didnt look great so yea he is gonan get criticized

winning doesnt erase criticism....if a fighter looks bad it is a problem

paul williams makes mistakes and claims its ok cause he is winning fights when it really isnt ok

Zaveck lost but there really isnt much to bag on him for he fought a brave fight wanted to continue

i thought it was close and was only gonna become more interesting

because the way the fight was and that it didnt play out to a conclusive ending a lot of unanswered questions about Berto will be pushed off til his next bout

Well in some cases that's true, but when you beat a man to the point his physical condition won't allow him to continue, then yeah it's pretty telling of what went down.

Urango was a banger, Hernandez had solid pop, and Quintana has a good KO ratio.

I'd think he caught a break if it weren't for the fact that Zaveck could no longer see.

Without clear vision Zaveck wasn't going to accomplish anything in rounds 6-?

However, if you remove the cuts/puffs altogether the remaining seven rounds become VERY interesting to speculate on. I do feel Zaveck had been grinding him down on the inside there.

I respect Zaveck, he was a champ, but I think Bertos body work was slowing him as well. Zaveck was getting sloppy and his punches while clean, lacked any great conviction by the end of the fight. IMO.

We saw that his stamina hasn't improved one bit. Guy is a 4 round fighter.

People will be making excuses for Berto after his fights 6/7 years from now. Just like people do with Judah now.

It's just how it is with him. He has excuses now and he always will, it's in his nature. It's in similar fighters natures, like Zab Judah.

I definitely believe Zavek when he said he was conserving his energy for the second half. 90% chance he would have won, probably by KO. It's a shame that his eyes became cut and swollen like that, but they had to stop the fight, and it was a most excellent fight. Shame.

Was Berto rubbing his head into Zavek's eyes?

yea the stoppage robbed us of the great fight we were getting and it was gonna get better

with the cuts we woulda saw a desperate zaveck try to do something big and see berto respond

no cut and who knows zaveck claimed he was ready for the 2nd half and planend to take it in the deep water which means he did his HW cause berto tires

who knows its over now i think it deserves a rematch but that aint gonna happen

Definitely deserves a rematch, and sadly you're probably right and there won't be a rematch.

The reason most people think that Ortiz is too green because he hasn't proven him self to a legit fighter then all of a sudden jumping off for PBF. Ortiz beat the hype Berto it's a good win but not great to say that he's proven himself. What's funny was calling Ortiz a young lion because of his win against Berto. Yah a small lion cub alright even Maidana would destroy that Berto, Hek we can call Maidana the lion king...

zaveck was brought in to get beat

he lost fair and square though he deserved one more round

so hbo no longer has a use for him though his effort is deserving of another fight on us air

ortiz is next for berto after ortiz loses to floyd he will want a belt and face a guy he can make big money off after that first bout

    Zack caught a break lol
A cut on top and a plum on bottom hahaha
They could only work 1 part of the eye at a time the corner wanted it stopped and berto vaught the break because the guy with 2 cuts and a plum on his face was landing cleaner
