Margarito. He doesnt just have one big win on his record, his skill has carried him with wins over Cintron and Cotto. Mayorga beat Forrest in the first fight well but the second he was lucky to get the decision, and his win over a past prime Vargas is not as impressive as the Cotto or Cintron wins.
Heart- Margarito. Never stops coming forward. Mayorga may boast about his machismo, but he quit against Cotto like a *****
    Chin- Even

Margo clearly. Margo breaks his opponent down with relentless pressure upstairs and downstairs. Mayorga just comes forward to land that one big shot over and over again. Margo knows what hes looking for whilst Mayorga just hopes to land.

Margarito, he is a great pressure fighter, if he wasnt caught with plaster this wouldnt even be a serious question, the man is very underrated compared to how he was viewed in 08.

Margarito was the guy who was outboxed by Paul Williams right?

Take away his loaded gloves and he is done!

    Nuff said!

The best Margarito was a better fighter than the best Mayorga.

A: it depends on what style they're up against. :deal

Guys Mayorga could throw off rhythm with his awkward aggression would comfortably outbox the straightforward Margarito. (see Mosley; also Forrest and Spinks would have decisioned Tony even more easily behind their jabs)

Guys Margarito could meet in the middle of the ring and break down would be able to beat Mayorga by punching with him and turning in the pocket without relying on an outside rhythm (see Cotto; also Cintron and perhaps green Martinez would have out-moved and out-slugged Mayorga at mid-range)

I believe two different Mosley's fought each, but as IB said, they looked better against different styles. Margarito was the better pressure fighter, and Mayorga the better ambush fighter.

While Margarito has the better and more consistent wins on his records, I believe Mayorga may have done more impressively against better competition, despite losing. He hung in there against De La Hoya and Mosley, who were still big forces despite being past-prime. I'm not sure Margarito would have lasted as long against the same versions.

Margarito with the pads is the better fighter. Without them, he sucks.
