Foreman would fight on with a broken leg. Vitali has Glass Skin and a Glass Heart. Beating up on Sam Peter, Chris Arreola and Albert Sosnowski does not mean you are an ATG. No prime ATG loses vs that Lennox Lewis. None. No prime ATG quits vs blown up super-middle Chris Byrd. None.
For the record Lewis beat Holyfield once, first fight was ruled a draw, IMO Holyfield was on the way down during both of those fights that's why I said "Prime for prime". The three wars with a younger and stronger Bowe took a lot out of him AND Riddick as well. Lewis did beat Bowe in the Amateurs but the Bowe that Holyfield faced in the pros was a different animal. A young prime Holyfield is faster and probably stronger then Lewis.. Lennox did dominate his division but let's be honest he really didn't have any real threats until the Klits came along, then he packed it in.. IMO Beating Vitali a second time and then beating his brother would have cemented his legacy as a top 5 heavyweight of all time past Tyson and Holyfield easy but he chose not to take the risk. That's my opinion on Lennox, great fighter for his time but took the high road when some legit competition came along.
for the truth, everybody who saw the first fight and knows a bit about boxing knows lewis won. holyfield wasnt in his prime but still in very good shape, lewis simply too much for him.
The thing is, imo Holmes beat norton and shavers Holyfield beat tyson and bowe Lewis beat holyfield x2 Bowe beat holyfield x2 Wlad beat byrd and chag Tyson beat spinks and holmes Vitali beat, erm arreola and peter? Both coming in grossly overweight. If vitali beats adamek maybe he deserves the kind of h2h reputation he has with his fans but until that his opposition seems very shallow and he lost to the best two guys he faced. Lewis battered him to a stoppage and he quit v byrd when a point up by my cards.
That's pretty damn good in my opinion! I think the quote very best Heavyweight version is key...not when they were on the downslope. I think the hardest one to judge is where Lennox comes in the list...where was his prime?? I think it was roughly from 95/96- 2000/2001 roughly five to six years is where you saw the best lennox lewis with the blip against Rahman avenged...now is that Lewis better than the best version of Riddick Bowe whose prime was alot shorter end of 92 till maybe 94 at a push...the bowe that fought Holy the 1st time compared to the bowe that fought Holy the 3rd time were 2 different people...the bowe that fought Holy the 3rd time was on the downslide massively..the years of yoyo diets finally taking it's toll...very lucky to have got a drained Holy on that night...having said that I believe Bowe wouldve been too busy for the best Lewis and wouldve either decisioned or stopped Lewis late...other than that the list you have is very solid...with Holmes getting decisions rather than ko's. Possibly swapping Lewis for Holyfield..toss up between those 2.
But Holyfield clearly won the second fight!!! Lewis was gifted the decision as Holyfield was gifted a draw.
