I hate Ottke but I think he tops these guys.

 

Ottke was actually a very decent boxer and would have had a very respectable career as a champion at SMW even despite the losses he should have had and got away with, it's not fair to compare him in this list.

He rebutted his critics, which had complained that he had started too late, when he became German Champion at the age of 18 at Middleweight. Ten further titles would follow. He took part in the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games . He became European Champion in 1991 and 1996, and came third in 1993.

Pro career

After 308 fights as an amateur, of which he won 256, he turned professional in 1997. Less than a year later on 24 October 1998, he won the IBF-super middleweight championship from Charles Brewer. After this he made 16 successful defenses of his IBF title against fighters like Thomas Tate, Glencoffe Johnson, Silvio Branco, James Butler, Anthony Mundine, and Joe Gatti. He was at the peak of his career when he added the WBA version on 13 March 2003 in a fight against WBA champion Byron Mitchell, winning by split points decision. Ottke was notorious for being the beneficiary of many controversial decisions, most notably against Robin Reid [1].

After successfully defending his title 21 times, Ottke stepped down as undefeated world champion on 27 March 2004. Ottke has a record of 34 wins and 0 losses as a professional, of which 6 were by knockout. He was named IBF "Fighter of the Year" in 2003.

Nah bud it's not about color, it's about money. They are crooks that keep recycling the same boxers over n over n over. This is gonna be WBA's third Holyfield cycle.

I thought Klitschko could save us from this disgrace, when he beat 2 wba champions back to back. But jokes on us, the boxing fans, because wba just made a brand new belt and gave it to a guy that is about to continue the fine tradition Ruiz/Valuev/Haye have followed.

 

Only including guys who actually held the traditional lineage or were classed as number 1 in the division:

Briggs (best performance was a losing effort against a 50 year old)
Baldomir (had a decent run but he was truly wank)
