Good point, Lewis fans some how get ideal that he would fearlessly just go after Wladimir from opening bell.atsch They clearly know nothing about Lennox's nature. Lewis started fast only when he seen an opportunity, like seeing Golota's eyes were glazed over from being drugged. Did Lewis start fast and come out swing against Vitali? What about Mavrovic? Steward and Lewis were smarter than 90% of the Klitschko haters because Wladimir was in the Ring magazine's top ten starting in late 1999 and in the WBC's top ten from 98. Lewis had the opportunity for a match with Wladimir five years before he retired but didn't take it....
You need to re-watch Lewis/Tua. Lewis opens up in the early and lands a number of big right hands with little effect. Once Lewis realised he couldn't hurt Tua he switched and boxed carefully to a decision. Whenever Lewis has faced an opponent that was deemed as a threat he usually jumped on them. Ruddock, Golota, Grant even Vitali all had a Lewis that was looking to end the fight early. Lewis' own advice when Sanders faced Wlad was for Sanders to jump on Wlad and get him out early. To think Lewis would not take is own advice and fight a careful fight which best suits Wlad is simply incorrect.
Lewis fans get the idea because he has done it on more than one occasion and he himself advised such tactics to Sanders when he fought Wlad. Why would Lewis choose different tactics when they worked so well for Sanders. You are delusional if you think Lewis would simply box Wlad who is capable if matching Lewis in this area and fight the kind of fight that would best suit Wlad.
When Lewis smell the fear, its over, and Wlad seem scared in almost all of his fights since Sanders. Wlad before Sanders is a brutal machine and may knock Lewis but anything Wlad has to offer since this is not enough to beat Lewis. Lewis by total destruction is probably the right answer.
Lewis is one out of very few ATG's that would be an almost certain winner against Wlad. Wlads only chance would be to land a one shot kill, and thats nothing you should bet your house on.
