    :yep

I was referring more to the result not only giving him a top US HW but giving him an easy way to swerve the Barnett issue.

The Prime version of Crocop had him on his back in their 2nd fight , and destroyed him in their 3rd.....

Barnett is usually very dominant.... As a matter of fact , i think crocop would get owned today by Barnett....(just like wandy was owned by Jackson in their 3rd fight)....

Pat Miletich made a great point before the fight when he said he thought Cormier would be a more difficult opponent for Big Foot than Overeem would have been. I think despite his smaller stature and less impressive build Cormier shows no hesitation and goes for broke. Overeem is very aggressive against overmatched foes like Duffee for instance. I seriously don't think the Reem would have lit up Silva the way Cormier did. It is a fight not a body buildring contest so it is nice to see Cormier vs Barnett in the final. Cormier's combination he finished Silva with was sensational. This guy definately works diligently on his standup and seems to have natural timing and punching power. I agree, it is shame that they said the final take place til' early next year. Both of their performances were spectacular (Cormier and Barnett) and both should be headed to the UFC no matter what the outcome of their fight. Barnett probably needs it more because back in 2002 Dana White said he would never be allowed back. Cormier will be welcomed in immediately as a good heavyweight fighter is a rare and coveted commodity.

The only way that I see Barnett winning this fight, is if he drops Cromier to the mat with a strike, and then submits him on the ground.

Nothing against Barnett.. just an incredibly bad matchup for him. Although, his striking looked solid vs Silva so he has a shot. He has to drop him, or at least stun/wobble/hurt him enough in order to get him to the mat.

    How so?

Cormier has proven to be more explosive on his feet... and comes out better each and every time.

    Barnett can't out wrestle Cormier.

So... explain how Barnett wins any way he choses? Josh's biggest strength is being taken away. He doesn't get to decide where the fight takes place. Unless he drops Cormier, hurts him... or somehow through striking or an odd scramble ends up in a perfect position... he can't get Cormier down to the mat.

I have no doubt that Barnett is a better sumbission artist... however the problem is going to be getting Cormier into position where he can apply that advantage. Not only that... but it would have to be a good enough takedown that Josh lands in an extremely dominant and very controlled position because Cormier wouldn't be an easy guy to hold down.

So, as I said I think the win for Josh would have to come by way of dropping or hurting Cormier badly on their feet... so he can either jump down onto him, or have him vulnerable enough for a takedown.

I always thought Cormier looked good and had skills but he isn't a heavyweight. I also questioned his intentions as he seemed in no rush and admitted as much. However, he now looks like Cain. Cain and Cormier strike me as modern Fedor's. Heavy hands and aggressive grapplers. They hold huge speed advantages despite their lack of size. Cormier has power and great grappling. Where to next!

Barnett is a great fight for him. Josh has proven himself why he is the 4th best heavyweight to ever do it (on paper).

Cormier is definitely the next big prospect to watch. Lesnar vs Reem is most likely an eliminator BUT Cormier coming off of wins against Big Foot and Josh would put him right up there.

LOL @ this ****. Barnett looks to be game, but who the **** has he beaten in the past five years? Jeff Monson has beaten Kharitonov even faster than Josh and has had the same kind of success against minor league comp. Does that mean that he'd lay waste to the UFC heavies too?

Let's see how the tournament final plays out. Let's also see if "the warmaster" is capable of going on a good run without popping positive for roids.

    Interesting match.

Its funny as I am reading a book and stories of the old catch wrestlers who would roll with freestyle and greco wrestlers and just play with them doing what they want.

I'm going for Josh Barnett to show that pro wrestling is strong!!!

Pro Wrestling is the truth. It gets ragged on too much. Some of the greatest Mixed Martial Artists have been pro wrestlers.
