How am I discrediting Cotto's victory? I'm not discrediting it at all. I am discrediting Hopkins victory though, you're right. How can you not. He fights his entire career at middleweight, moves to Lt Heavy for one fight....claims to be the champ and then makes a lt Middle come up to fight him???? :huh WTF!

I'll try 1 more time to explain the Cotto/Mosley situation, and the way I see it. It was a close fight. One that really could've gone either way. They both had to make adjustments throughout the fight. But did you honestly walk away from that fight thinking Cotto was that much better then Shane??? :think And if you didn't really think Cotto was that much better....then why would you have one guy in your top 10 and the other guy not? For me, they looked pretty evenly matched, and on the same level so I'm not going to have Cotto in my top 5 and Shane not even in my top 10, it makes absolutely no sense :deal

Pac is definitely the better 1-round fighter. Pac would've won a wide UD if the fight was only 1 round. But hey, I bet Tyson would still be in title contention if he only fought 1-rounders :yep

    It should be:
    1. PBF
    2. Cotto
    3. Calzaghe
    4. Marquez
    5. Pacquiao
    6. Pavlik
    7. Hatton
    8. Wlad
    9. Mosley
    10. Haye

There may be a few shocks in their for some people, but at least I've spiced things up a bit, instead of doing exactly the same as everybody else. :hey

IMO , P4P lists that are made for now (and which are to show who are the best p4p right now) should go on recent form , i dont think a fighter who has just legitimatly lost should be in it , unless they were at a definite disadvantage in weight and still lost in a creditible fashion.

If a p4p list of alltime is compiled then that should be different , as that is taking into account overall legacy , therefore longevity , skill , and resume should be given consideration. So, my point is that for a current p4p list which is to determine the best p4p fighters in the world right now , the main criteria should be recent results (obviously like anything there are exceptions under circumstances).

So mine would probably be -

    1. Mayweather
    2. Calzage
    3. Pacquiaou
    4. J.M. Marquez
    5. Vasquez
    6. Hopkins (obviously one of the best in the world , but beating Wright at the weight they fought at, when Wright hadnt even done anything at 160 is just not good enough for a higher position on this list considering what others have done)
    7. Pavlik
    8. Klitschko
9 Spinks (imo he beat Taylor, who was unbeaten)
    10. Cotto

    Just opinion though

Please explain what would happen in this hypothetical scenario then.

You have Floyd Mayweather at P4P #1. You have Miguel Cotto at P4P #4. And say for argument purposes you have Paul Williams at P4P #5. All still at Welterweight. Cotto and Floyd are signed to fight. And these ratings are universally agreed upon. The Cotto/Floyd fight is one of the best back and forth battles in recent memory. Every round is close and the momentum is going back and forth. Floy wins the bout in the last 2 rounds, but they are still close. He wins the fight via split decision.

Tell me this, because according to your logic Miguel Cotto should be dropped in the P4P ratings and Williams should by default be ahead of him. Using my logic, he might even move up in the ratings because he just proved that he was pretty much as good as the P4P #1. How does Cotto losing a SD to the P4P #1 translate into Paul Williams now being a better P4P fighter then him? :think

This could also work with the #7 losing to the #4, and then the #8 surpassing. Why?

Seriously, I don't see how any of you can put Hopkins in the top 10...what has he done that would warrant that kind of ranking...beat up on smaller guys....hold and fight dirty....Wright clearly brought the fight to him in the last fight....Hopkins landed more headbuts than jabs in that fight...I may be a bit biased here, but you left off RJJ in that list (not complaining) but do you really think B-hop can beat him???? Not a chance...their is a reason he has been avoiding Roy all these years...that aside, Hopkins does not belong on this list....he has been fighting smaller fighters with big names at the end of his career......prior to that, he was on nobody's list for top 10 p4p. Again, in the Wright fight, he showed us all why he should retire right now....he held and avoided boxing Winky because he had no buisness being in the ring with a real boxer. Hopkins is not a ring general...he is an illusionist and cheap carnival trickster with nothing left in his tank. He is boring in fights because he DOES NOT FIGHT! I've said this before and I will say it again...Benard Hopkins has mastered the art of winning a boxing match without boxing! :-(
