It is over 10 years ago, when Roy Jones jr. has made 170 pounds. His excuse of the "bad performance" against Tarver in the first fight was that it was too hard to make 175 pounds. Now at the age of 38 he will take 5 pounds away from it. How do you think that it will effect the fight? I am a bit worried... I that that Roy will be weakened of making the fight. And making too much weight is dangerous. If he takes a lot of hard punches it can be a risk for the old man“s health. Tito is "too little" to 170 pounds and Roy is "too big"? What will be worse or will the weight be a factor in this fight?
wasnt it hard for him to make 175 becasue he fought over 200 lbs for the heavyweight title against Ruiz...im sure he doesnt walk around over 200 in between fights..he talks about it on the hbo countdown show
The weight was definately the issue in the Tarver loss. This is a great fight for Roy, to look impressive an get a KO victory. People seem to forget that Roy has been fighting at 175 since November 2003. That is 5 years. Another 5 pounds is not going to be big deal, as he is now accustomed to that weight, and he has got his love back for boxing. I am looking forward to seeing him get a KO win on saturday Its been a long time.:deal
yea thats what i mean...i dont see this fight going past 5 rounds with Roy getting the stoppage victory
It'll have a bigger effect on Tito. He came into the ring at 164 in most of his big fights against Vargas and such. He is going to be in even worse shape than he was against Winky, with some help from RJJ. He won't have a lot of trouble making weight but he'll look softer and his conditioning isn't going to be any better with the extra pounds. Sure Jones got KTFO after Heavyweight but he has been fighting at Light Heavyweight ever since. It won't hinder his performance as much as the weight loss a few years ago.
The thing with the Tarver fight was that he went down from nearly 200lbs back to 175 in the space of a few months. In this fight he should be well adjusted as he has had plenty of time.
Im shure its not verry easy for Roy to make 170. I hope Tito will take advantage of it and knock Roy out. I like Tito more than Roy and if Tito wins maybe we will see some more interesting fights of him, hopefully at 160 or less. Im excited to see at what weight tito weighs in and how his body will look.
After the first sign that Tito has been hurt :tired , look for Roy to come in with his blazing combos :bbb to end it quickly. That is if the ref can beat Papa Trinidad to the punch so to speak as the protective father will no doubt be hurling the white towel into the ring. Big mistake for Tito to take this fight.:nono He will be outclassed by a man with too much skill and power for him to handle. It is that simple. Throwing in references to Roy's past losses to larger and stronger guys has no relevance on his upcoming fight with the smaller, weaker, slower and less technical Trinidad. All you guys predicting a Tito victory have way too much hollywood influence in your minds...this isn't a Rocky movie....this is real life where Apollo Creed wins by devistating KO! :thumbsup
RJJ fought scared in that fight. His confidence wasnt there which he lost after Tarver I. Let's see if he got it back or if its ALL talk.
