I saw something that looked a little fish. My memory is betraying me but I'm sure I saw Dave Parris (who was judging), congratulating Barry McGuigan after the Frampton win. Maybe he was shaking his hand. Refs/judges really should maintain an impartial stance. Anyone see it?
Didnt see it but I think its this not corruption that is responsible for some of the calls in British boxing. All the judges refs etc are involved in boxing in some level and are on the same circuit. So they get to know fighters, promoters trainers and others involved in the sport. When looking at a fight with a scorecard in front of you you then become unconsciously more partial to the home fighter who you know well and had a few chats with rather than some Ghanaian bloke your never going to see again who you dont know from adam
Non-issue where the dodgy cards are concerned TBH. Its a small scene, people know each other, all you can hope is that it doesn't affect the judges scoring.
2 people who know each other exchanging pleasantries at a boxing show shouldn't really be leaving them open for allegations of wrong-doing. I know this is the Internet, home of the Moon-hoaxers, 9/11 conspiracy theorists and all that but come on....;O)
Just to clarify, Parris was congratulating him right after the fight had finished and he was one of the judges.
With the **** Parris has done in the past it doesn't look great. The fight was over and a easy win for McGuigan's man so it's not to much of a contreversy but no doubts if Frampton was to win a real close one on points and 'Brown-paper-bag' scores for him this will be brought up.
Dave Parris and Carl Froch were chatting like old buddies for a good ten minutes at the Kell Brook vs N'Dou fight
I saw Ian John Lewis, high five a boxer once, can't remember who, but IJL was judging and still at his judges seat, the boxer was going round the ropes after the final bell acknowledging the crowd BEFORE the result was read out...I thought it was a really stupid thing to do at the time. Also remember hearing that former Scottish ref, now promoter got suspended for a time because he celebrated "inappropriately" when Colin McNeil KO'd Gary Young... He wasn't involved in that fight but was still working other fights on the show.
