Mikey Garcia on Gamboa's performance Saturday via Facebook. I agree, Gamboa didn't look to good against Ponce De Leon. Sure he probably won every round except tha 1st, but a lackluster performance. I think Garcia could beat Gamboa, a lot more busy and technically sound. Would be a good fight

This fight should be made. Same division, same promoter what's the problem.

no way in hell is garcia busier...... gamboa has a far higher workrate. garcia's tentativeness is his biggest flaw, if he threw more he'd be better

Ponce De Leon was very much in the fight and Gamboa always looked vulnerable. HBO was about as bias as ever and gave De Leon little credit.

Gamboa actually impressed me more than ever....he wasn't as exciting and vicious but he stayed cool, calm and composed. He didn't step outside of his "box" to get pulled into one of those gun fights where ANYTHING could have happened. He showed that he is improving as a fighter who uses his intelligence...not just the extreme physical gifts that have been talked about within the sport for years.

Garcia is not busier than Gamboa at all IMO. He could beat him (though i don't think so at this stage) but it would be behind his jab and counter punches and even then I'm not sure. Gamboa is so quick and unpredictable that it could throw the average boxer off. He could use his movement and box at some points, or he could be aggressive, attack in angles and lure his opponent into a shootout. There is no clear blueprint on how to beat him. Yes hes been down in a few fights but scoring a KO is not really a blueprint. And if that's all you're trying to do, then someone on the level of Gamboa could read that.

All in all Gamboa's performance was a very good performance I think he for the first time I think actually gave his opponent respect for his power which was wise from Gamboa's part and it's something we are not accustomed to seeing. I always knew Deleon was his most dangerous fight to date and there were many times Gamboa looked surprised why his shots were not connecting or hurting DeLeon as past opponents have. I still give the slightest of edges to Gamboa over Garcia at this point, Garcia's defense and susceptibility to right hands is questionable to me, and I'd favor Gamboa in a decision. I think Gamboa will always have problems with technical fighters like Garcia and John more so than battle hungry fighters than Juanma and Salido. Gamboa's power might be alittle overrated, but not his talent. He can do it all and uses his size as an advantage rather than a disadvantage.

na bro..garcia throws and keeps it steady all round...gamboa has a flurry or two a round, then wins the rest by popshotting and moving backwards...garcia moves forward at all times

This would be a fight, IMO, where Gamboa really has to dig deep to get the victory. Garcia is fundamentally sound, patient, and packs a punch. I'd love to see this fight.

I really do not think Gamboa's power is overrated, I just think PDL was ready and preppared to take shots. I was just amazed at how the much slower PDL was able to land at the percentage he did though his shots were'nt flush and off target.

actually Gamboa said he's moving up to 130.

Is Linares still able to fight at 130 or is he now a 135lb fighter?

Cuz Linares against Gamboa would be nice!

Gamboa looked unmotivated against Ponce and I dont think he's sticking around at 126 anymore. He was stripped of his tittles and the megafight he wanted pretty much dissolved so i dont blame him. Garcia and Russel Jr. are still prospects, its Donaire who needs to stop smashing midgets and step up already.
