Frank Bruno who doesn't even make the list would knock out Haye in my opinion or at very least least out point him (Bruno may not have great stamina but compared to Haye at the weight he's a marathon runner), as would Tommy Morrison who doesn't even make the list either.

Morrison is ****. He would be falling over the place, when Vitali touched him with a measuring hand. The man was one with the canvas, and sadly, outboxing Mercer before that pathetic highlight. Adamek is sturdier at HW. Bentt literally KOed Morrison by waving his arms around while out on his feet. Morrison also got off the canvas in everyone of his great victories against washed up set ups.

Mercer's great KO victory :-( and apparently fooled you into thinking he had great knock out power.

Too bad he couldn't do that to Ferguson.

Nah, Mercer isn't stopping Adamek and he isn't outboxing him. Mercer was in his "I follow you around the ring and wait for you to fall into my punches" phase. By 95, he at least developed a half way decent jab and got into good shape. Still couldn't get the job done against a comeback retirement Holyfiled who was gasping for air after 4 rounds. I know it wasn't 91 when he had his pick of the liter, but he would end up being exposed by the ordinary Ferguson, literally attempting to bribe him to take a dive during the match. FACT.

I agree this Hayes fella is the best boxer we have never seen! he would dominate both bros in the ring a the same time and then transport back in history and beat, Holmes, Ali, Tyson, Lewis, Louis and Jesus before supper. Yes, that hayes fella is someone no one would want to mess with

there, i finished your fictional statement for you and i didn't even have to use the drugs you are on!

The Witherspoon who fail out of the rankings in 92 is the same man he was from 91, which really wasn't an impressive year either. He split decisioned "DA TRUTH" to get the ranking..wow. Carl Williams was a walking punchline, you were following the sport than? Remember the opinion of Carl..Spoon was clinging for relevance during this period by his fingertips.

And if were going straight by 91 and nothing else than Evander was the worst most vulnerable Champion ever as that was the popular opinion of him based off his sloppy disappointing performances against Cooper and Foreman that year. We know better now, just as we know Old Spoon lucked his way back into the top 10 that year with a crappy win over a popular Tyson victim.

    I honestly don't think it is **** compared to the 70s, when you think of the 70s you are thinking of just ali, foreman, frazier and holmes, and perhaps norton, but those werent all at their peak at the same time. If you take an individual year like what has been done in this thread, you realise the 70s wasnt as strong as people say it is, I always just thought the current hw division was ****, untill I compared it fairly to other times, I think its weaker than 91 but look at other years;

    1981
    Larry Holmes
    Mike Weaver
    Gerry Cooney
    Michael Dokes
    Greg Page
    Gerrie Coetzee
    Trevor Berbick
    Leon Spinks
    James Tillis
    Randall (Tex) Cobb
    Renaldo Snipes

    1971
    Joe Frazier
    Muhammad Ali
    Jerry Quarry
    George Foreman
    Oscar Bonavena
    Mac Foster
    Jimmy Ellis
    Floyd Patterson
    Jose Luis Garcia
    Jack Bodell
    Joe Bugner

I dont think there are many from those lists that would make today's top 10, probably just 3 from 71 and 1 or 2 from 81.
That floyd patterson is well after his prime and was 3 years after his losses to jimmy ellis and jerry quarry

I think 91 top ten is stronger, the 4th highest ranked today probably comes in about 8th then, but i think the 2011 top ten is stronger than most years

-Bruno outboxed everyone until he gassed, tripped over his own feet, fail in the ropes..etc. And by everyone we mean "gimmes" just as bad as Adamek's recent lot of opponents after Cristobel. Lewis at this stage wasn't hard to outbox either, Steward did wanders for him.

-Wow, Bonecrusher hugged Tyson like a homosexual in need of a cuddle buddy without even attempting to fight back. Strong man but he was ultimately pathetic. There's a reason a lose to him was an instant kick out of the Ring top 10.

    This says it all. :patsch

Romanticizing Frank Bruno and Tommy Morrison. Two of the most protected frauds in history and they still got exposed in their "set up for the big time" fights.

I've seen it all. I presonally loathe Haye, but he would lay both of them out.

Adamek couldn't beat any of them.

Adamek probably couldn't beat them all even TODAY ....

The reason Adamek was able to go up to heavyweight and compete is entirely DUE to this being a horrible era. The sport has been in a multi-generation decline. When the best athletes aren't participating you get a weak competitive field. Unlike OTHER major sports the best in boxing are worse than the participants from the not too distant past. That almost never happens - but it has in the upper weight classes - in particular - of professional boxing.

If you want to comapare fighters from around that time then I would say that as a heavyweight, Adamek is on about the same level as someone like Orlin Norris.

I can agree with that. And Norris was pretty underrated, he got injured against Cooper, didn't get many opportunties because he wasn't exciting enough, the Tucker decisions were controversial, he wanted Tyson and regardless of how well he would have done, he deserved it more than Bruno or Da Truth. Could Adamek suffer such a fate in 91, absolutely.
