WBC is considered by many boxers as the "legit" one because many of the old school champs held that belt.
Then you are pretty dense. :blood Mayweather and several other boxers have made perfectly clear why they hold the WBC in highest esteem. It's the championship that is familiar to them from watching boxing on TV growing up. It's the one with the tradition of great champions built up when they were young (and before they were born). Regardless of its current state of corruption or plain disrepute, it has a rich history.
How do you know he is paying the sanctioning fee, and made it so it is coming out of Golden Boy or Ortiz money?? I mean who has the most to gain from Sanctioning this a "World Title Bout" Mayweather is beyond those title.
Because he has always thought of the WBC belt as the "Offical belt" of every weight class. plus thats the belt he gave up and now wants it back. He didnt want that WBA belt, I know the WBC is corrupted but the WBA is the wrose with super chapions and ****. Much respect to Floyd for not taking that WBA belt from Mosley, he dont need that ****
I'm pretty dense, huh? Well, the WBA goes back way further than the WBC, although ofcourse it was originally called the NBA. Even so, it changed it's name to WBA a year before the WBC was formed, so i really don't see how your reasoning holds up.
WBA just made Waldamir a super champion and actually had Povetkin for there so called belt a couple of weeks ago. How can 1 santioning body have mutiple chams in one weight class??? Thats why Floyd said screw them and im hapy he did
Yes, you are. I've already answered your question. It isn't a matter of which organization is technically older. It's a matter of quality of past champions - which is really entirely subjective, BUT the pervading opinion (especially among boxers themselves) is that the WBC has the greatest championship tradition. If the "titlist makes the title", then the WBC title has been the most made in the estimation of most involved with the sport. I don't even necessarily agree with it. I think the WBA has had some fine lineages. I think both have fallen quite far from their former glory. The fact is, Mayweather and other boxers along with other boxing folk have made public statements endorsing the WBC as the highest prize there is based on its persisting legend from bygone generations. This is pretty common knowledge. You've been registered to a boxing forum for three years and don't know this. You've had it explained to you in very simplistic terms and still can't seem to grasp the central concept (grasping at straws about the WBA being older, which is irrelevant). Yeah, you're pretty dense alright.
pretty sure that's true Uh yeah he did http://www.***********.com/mayweather-i-not-want-fight-wba-title--27159 around the time of the Mosley fight Floyd did make a comment about being at a point in his career where he didn't need a title belt and many of the journalists interpreted it that way. It's not putting words in Floyd's mouth if in his own words says “When you're bigger than the sport, you ain't got to fight for belts,” he said. so if Floyd is going to say that about title belts as a whole, why exclusively fight for the This content is protected then? I IntentionalButt answered that though, how the This content is protected is seen to be one of the more prestigious titles to win but regarding Mayweather, don't forget he did beat Zab for the This content is protected title. lineage and rich history aside aren't all these Alphabet organizations all the same corruption wise? but for those who don't know, Floyd does have history with the This content is protected , as he won it from Baldomir and after "retiring" Berto won it vacant, but then lost it to current This content is protected champ Victor Ortiz That's fine if Floyd's claiming the WBC is the only legitimate belt but if that's the case he shouldn't call all the alphabet belts worthless (especially since he won the IBF once)
on another note apparently the WBA was asking for 3% of Floyd's purse as the sanctioning fee so if anyone knows, I was wondering what the sanctioning fee the WBC makes fighters pay
He didnt give damn about that IBF belt, he just wanted to fight Judah because people kept saying Judah has a great chance to beat him. Judah actually had the IBF&IBO so Mayweather took them after he won and put them in the garage somewhere. Thats why when he fought DLH he only brought his WBC belts because he could careless about the IBF or anybody else
