I'm a huge believer in grassroots marketing. My friends who watched Gatti-Ward with me still follow boxing. My buddies who watched Ortiz vs. Berto with me called me a month ago to ask about the fight this weekend.

I'm watching Cotto vs. Margo. Cotto's my guy. Undercard fights like this will make me either not invite anybody or have to listen to "this is boring." Neither is a good option.

But the main event is going to be enough excitement for your buddies. By the way i'm rooting for Cotto, but I think Margo takes it again.

It's still on, but it's going to purse bid and won't be on the Cotto-Margarito undercard.

Personally, I'm glad it's no longer part of the PPV. That's because I feel it's highly likely this particular match-up is a stinker in the making. I think it would be better suited for Friday Night Fights or perhaps a Boxing After Dark opening bout.

I will at least say this for Golden Boy -- their undercard bouts are usually of a much higher quality than top rank.

Because Ramos is crap and Rigondeaux is brilliant (by comparison).

I had Ramos 0-6 down vs Shimoda (who is no better than average if you ask me) before he landed that knockout punch. Getting a boxing lesson for 6 rounds by a fighter of Shimoda's calibre won't bode well for Ramos against Rigondeaux, who is simply miles better than the Jap. It's very doubtful Rico will be able to land a shot to knock Rigo out too, so I envisage him most likely losing every round of the fight, probably being stopped around the late rounds. He doesn't throw enough, and what he does throw is hardly inspiring. Rigo will break him to bits if he performs like he did vs Shimoda.

I really don't see how he has a chance in this one.

Didn't Gary Hyde say Ramos reject the offer he had already verbally agreed to and the fight is cancelled. This was yesterday, has there been new developments since then?

Apparently Donaire will be on the undercard against a TBA...and I read somewhere that wolak/bundrage is on there too.
