Holyfield did not like facing smaller slicker boxers. He actually preferred facing biggers guys. He did not like facing guys like Toney & Bryd although he did it anyway

Jones would of had to stay away from Tyson all night. Laying on the ropes would of got him killed. Prime Tyson head movement and speed was to much and Jones power wasn't enough to keep Tyson from rushing and eating him...lol

Slightly off topic But its been talked about before about a possible RJJ Vs Tyson fight in 03....Tyson was in top shape for the clifford etienne fight in 2003, & i really dont see Jones lasting the distance with Mike....he may outwork him, but i think Tyson catches him early enough with a huge Left hand....Would have been intresting to see how a HW Roy handled a tyson shot....:hey

As for Holyfield, its been said before that the Lewis fight was pretty much the last he had left before becoming overly shot....Yes hes had a few ok performances afterward, but overall skill-set wise he's been diminishing ever since.....I like evander, but his recent fights post-Valuev have had me shaking my head :-(

    Just my opinion....

Still surprising to hear directly from Holyfield that he turned down a $20 million pay day just because he felt he just couldn't catch up to Jones in the ring.

There's nothing more annoying than fighters from smaller weights with no pop at the weight, trying to pot shot to victory in the HW division.

Tyson would have hurt Jones, badly.
I could see him pot shotting to a UD/SD over Holyfield though.

Any overtures to have Holyfield fight Jones right after the Lennox Lewis fights were not serious offers.
I dont believe Holyfield himself remembers the specifics of any offer at that time.

The Holyfield-Lewis rematch took place in late 1999.

Jones did'nt fight at Heavyweight till early 2003.

A serious offer to fight Jones was made to Holyfield sometime after his trilogy with John Ruiz.
Holyfield was mulling taking the Jones fight. Holyfield was willing, but the financial offer that was made to him forced him to say no.
The offer to Holyfield was for him to get 5 million dollars, 2 million of that would have to have been forked over to Don King because King had said Holyfield owed him 2 million he had advanced him in a previous fight.

Jones on the other hand would have been guaranteed over 20 million dollars.

......a 75/25 split in Jones favor with King taking 2 of the 5 million away from Holyfield just did'nt make any sense. Holyfield even expressed he was willing to take the short end of the stick but he was'nt going to let them take advantage of him like that with that kind of split.

I'm not surprised, RJJ would've whupped Shot Holyfield worse than Byrd did, as he was even faster & more elusive.

This story belongs in the COMIC section. As MANY times as Roy has been left SLEEPING in the fkn' ring, it's ABSURD to think he could stand up to Mike OR Evander, hell, even NOW, they'd fk Roy up. Bogotazo, isn't it ALSO IRONIC that Roy used that Olympic loss bull**** for YEARS, to justify him NOT fighting abroad and once he got his ass kicked, it's like, he'll fight AHYWHERE against ANYBODY. Yeah, he sure DID have **** backwards.
