Ortiz would need to have some excellent stamina to win, and I say that because he would been to keep himself busy and throw (not overly busy though) and try to keep Floyd out of his gameplan and out of his comfort zone. Pump the jab OFTEN, doubling up, and throwing solid combinations. Not sure how well he cuts the ring off, but that would help as well. Floyd isn't the mover he used to be. Poise is the key for Ortiz. He needs to fight the perfect fight to win. Active, bur not reckless.
I agree with you, we had a lot similar, especially with the "not getting tied up"/get out of there aspects, PBF is a master coming out of breaks and using it to his advantage. I also agree with the hitting him wherever you can, the reason I focused body specific, is because if Oritiz can hurt him to the body a few times, that elbow will start creeping lower, in turn that right hand starts falling a little lower, and maybe he can land a shot. I also agree with you about the jabs, another huge trap, I'm cool with using your jab a lot...if you have a good jab. Khan, use your jab 100%...Oritz, no so much, dance with who brought you. He's a power puncher, bang on the man, inflict your will on him don't allow him to impose his will on you. I think we are in agreement on a lot of our thoughts.
One thing though that nobody has brought up regarding this fight, Floyds Pull Counter as he calls it may be another weapon to use against a southpaw who reaches with that left hand...
If I'm Ortiz I would try to use my jab to get inside to bully and rough up PBF. Go to the body since PBF will not be in his shoulder roll but rather a high guard and also throw uppercuts while in there. I also bull PBF to the ropes as much as possible even though PBF is effective there it doesn't look good to the crowd and it doesn't look good to the judges either. Also shoeshine in the final 10 seconds of the round in a hope to steal rounds which the pro Ortiz crowd will love. Basically fight a high energy man possessed type of fight. Ortiz must be willing to sell out in this fight. I would also tell Ortiz to try and foul PBF on the inside if he can get away with it hitting on the break with rabbit punches if possible and live up to his nickname of Vicious..
Agree with the Poise, absolutely, also I like the way you phrased "active but not reckless", absolutely. As brother Nazeem said, Conditioning is PBF's gift, he's there for the long haul, I hope Victor has prepared to fight 15 rounds cause that's what it's gonna feel like.
Absolutely, range is everything...I would say that with PBF and Manny, they both have mastered controlling range. If he's out of range throwing that left hand, you're right he's eating that pull counter all day. But if he's at what would be "mid range", when PBF pulls he's still in Ortiz's range, and if you're Ortiz you have to believe if we trade 1 for 1, I'm going to win because my 1 is going to be bigger than his 1. I say that because that's who Ortiz is and what he's about, if you can't trade 1 for 1 and win, then Ortiz has no shot and it's irrelevant.
I guess I am in the minority here, I dont think its easy getting to Floyds body, ima be honest I think its easier to hit him upstairs than it is to his body based on that defense he has.. But I do agree that the body shots are a big part of the game plan if you want to win. But I also think that Ortiz is going to have to be willing to go out in this fight which I think he is, I mean just listening to him, at first I was thinking this kid is scared... its easy to think that watching 24/7 just like Floyd being an absolute ***** on that series, however the behind the scenes footage on Dishnet right now, you have two entirely different people. when you listen to Ortiz you can tell this kid wants to prove something there really isnt much fear there, may back fire if he shows Zero respect, you will have to respect Floyd if you want to win just do not over respect him if that makes sense. Floyd on the other hand, I never knew that he and Ortiz had a little chat after his loss to Maidana and that chat has helped mentally prepair Ortiz for his comeback in the last few fights....
circle to the right. throw to the head, body, then head again (to quote old dicky ecklund). dont be afraid to hit arms when he blocks, just keep throwing, never ease off, cut the ring off, shove him when necessary and JUST KEEP ****ING THROWING or something like that....
Word! :thumbsup One thing NO ONE can ever dispute about Floyd is his training, he's 100% all the time. Ortiz is in a great position here. If he loses and at least looks good, it'll be an UP for his stature. Dammit...I was going to wait till the free replay...but I might have to just break down and buy the damn thing.
Yep. it appears he has gotten strong with the move up. So it would seems as though he can do damage. I love the style matchup. He is forced to fight like an old school pressure fighter. Take what ever you can, hit every part of the body. Try to just beat the guy down. Also, Be confident in the plan and listen to the instruction in the corner. Because if it goes over 5 or 6 it is gonna be like nothing he has ever experienced.
Bazooka, excellent thread. :thumbsup I gotta say, there some very good things being said about how Ortiz can win. Pretty much ebveryone is on or near the same page. It's a nice change from all the bull**** (yeah, I engage ion it too..). Well, nice change with the excpetiopn of Sunchild's post that is. But he was kidding at least.
I thought it would be a different approach to the norm here on ESB Pimp C and Reppin stepped up to the challenge and took the test :hey However I did expect a little more in depth from both but we are pretty much on the same page across the board here. its always easy to say how Floyd will win how Manny will win how Wlad or Vitali will win how Hopkins will win etc... if you know boxing show us how the underdog wins and if it makes sense the replys should be similar
Enter the ring. Stare Floyd down. When the first bell rings, make an angry face and wave Floyd in. As he approaches, quickly turn and climb to the highest turnbuckle, spread your arms, and fly down onto Floyd's bald head. Floyd will be brutally KTFO and Ortiz will be PFP #1.
I'd repost this using proper grammar and punctuation, starting with the word, "You're". This content is protected
What I noticed from the Judah and Sharmba Mitchell fight is that Floyd can get caught by the double jab left straight down stairs when he's using that high guard
