and it only makes mayweather look good when it really isn't. *****s take pride in ortiz coming off a win. it's an over rated win ffs. he was blown out to be a quality fighter, someone who has changed. well, here you go, you've seen first hand where the champion is now and if he really is what he was initially made out to be.

You should reserve that for situations when that's actually the case.

Looked like he could've gotten up. Might be the case.

Was this in the RBR thread? I was screaming at my TV for the exact same reason. Where was the young man possessed. Ortiz fought weirdly. Did he honestly think he could out-box Floyd, or dart in and out like Pascal or something?

A more likely explanation then than the rigged one but it was a weird moment to give up.

Ortiz landed at least one, maybe 2 good shots which momentarily stunned Floyd. Afterwards Floyd covered up well . I can see frustration that his attack fizzled when Floyd went into shell against the ropes but to give up on the entire fight right after what was his best moment seems weird?

Anyhow has any fighter gone from hero to zero as quickly as Ortiz? Up and coming hero before Maidana. Everyone said he had no heart after that. Then he goes on roll and looks like **** against Peterson. Then hero after taking out Berto. Now a clown.

Victor "hungry lion" Ortiz is a weird kid.

Ortiz is weak minded. His only shot was to make the fight ugly by throwing his weight on Floyd. Being intimidated from the beginning can really throw your gameplan out the window very quickly.

    Never watching Ortiz fight again.

Great insight. I think he was definitely looking for an easy way out. In fact, I don't even think Floyd meant for that two piece combo to end the fight. He just wanted to let Vic know that he can be a bit "less sportsmanlike" if it's called for. Victor's headbutt footage isn't being shown anywhere. But that was one NASTY butt. And it was intentional.

Sure it would've been interesting to see a little more of that scrap, but it was inevitable that Vic was going to take more punishment than he ever has in his career, had it continued. Sure, Joe Cortez could have checked with the timekeeper before bringing the fighters together and giving the go ahead. But Victor has quit before, which is a big deal in this sport.

It's not just the fact that he quit before, but how he quit that lends credence to everything you've said. If the current version of Mayweather is landing combinations on you, then you've already lost. Floyd hasn't been that committed to offense for years. When you have an issue with taking punishment cause "you're not cut out for it" and the guy dealing it out is one of the best fighters in the sport, if not THE best...then you got problems.

I never seen all that happen and someone still has a smile on their face..laughing even.

You are defending your belt and you kiss a guy, hug a guy, congratulate and laugh immediately after he sucker punches you. Big smile at the post-fight conf.

What's the difference between modern day boxing and the WWE? That's what I though.

I felt he quit, but the thing is, Floyd is so hated that to the casual fan it looks like a cheap dirty shot, EVERYBODY where I was watching the fight was pissed, saying how Floyd was getting hit and he took the easy way out. Ortiz was frustrated and was looking to either cripple May or lose while not taking a toll to his cred, to the casual fan he looked well, and that pissed me off more than the KO.

He had a connect percentage of under 10% in the figxt to nothing for threw less punches than his opposition with a much higher connect percentage.

Ortiz missed so many shots tonight
