There's too much of that friendly friendly tappy tappy at the end of rounds and after low blows these days.
PBF was excellent tonight. Did not really have to make adjustments and started fight a home for the right hand lead on Ortiz'sface from round 1. Totally outclassed Ortiz. Ortiz had been trying to use his head several times but his headbutt in round 4 was blatant and intentional and he could have been disqualified. Cortez asked them to carry on so the brilliant left hook and right cross combination PBF hit him with was justified. All the talk about Ortiz being the stronger man is crap. PBF was the stronger man. He issuing less lateral movement and is more aggressive with his skills intact. Basically he did ti him what he dud to Shane Mosley. Is PBF past hs best? Yes he is I can see some little signs to e expected at age 34 with reflexes not quite as sharp but you know what he is still more than good enough. Southpaw stance had no bearing. Will look closely at Pacman and Marquez. If Pacman get through and the fight with PBF is made look for PBF to stop him. Amur Khan has no chance it will be another execution.
larry merchant :rofl:rofl what a hero i love the way just laughs afterwards too cortez is an absolute crap ref, gotta be his last big one surely
:yep I believe right before the expression in your av is when Floyd told him "You DON'T KNOW **** ABOUT BAHXING! HBO SHOULD FIRE YO ASS! :fire"
ortiz was an absolute moron though, not just for the headbutt and the 'ill just stand here and let him hit me' part but he fought stupid too, couldve actually had a bit of success if hed been going to the body and not throwing wild swings int he middle of the ring
Ortiz got everything he deserved...a deliberate butt and all bets are off in my book. If Merchant was 50 years younger he would have been sat on his arse aswell...drunk old ****.
Just watched the fight this morning and my only reaction is still The whole of it was just hilarious. Firstly everyone knows it was a stupid mismatch and the only opponent against Mayweather should be Pacquiao. Why anyone would pay anything to watch him fight anyone else is beyond me. Then the fight itself was kind of interesting. Obviously Floyd was winning and would've probably either stopped Ortiz late or won a wide decision, that we all knew weeks ago. What was interesting was that Ortiz had Mayweather static quite a few times. Obviously his defence is still really good and the use of arms and elbows was key to keeping Ortiz's shots off him. The 'headbutt' was clearly wrong. I don't think Ortiz really intended to hurt Floyd with it but it was just a sign of frustration at Floyd's questionable defensive tactics. Victor Ortiz being the nice guy again looked like an idiot trying to hug/kiss an accepted apology out of Mayweather and Floyd's nasty (as oppose to his usual ****ish) side was clear when he blatantly unfairly knocked an unprotected Ortiz out. But you can't complain too much because Ortiz was an idiot for not seeing that coming. And hopefully Joe Cortez never gets to referee again because you can't just let the boxers continue fighting when you're not even looking. Of course Floyd was never gonna get disqualified but his handling of the whole situation was poor. Then the HBO interviews. I've never seen a loser smile so much as Ortiz. From the second Cortez counted him out he had a cheshire cat grin that wouldn't go away. Larry Merchant interviewing Floyd is always entertaining and the "I wish I was 50 years younger so I could kick your ass" line had me spitting out my corn flakes. 2 things learned from tonight. Floyd Mayweather Jr is still a *****, and Victor Ortiz is still a young, naive, not that great, boxer. Good night overall though :good
Yeah apparently Channel 5 went missing for most viewers atsch It was ok for me on HD though it did cut out for about 20 seconds. Then they came back, the fight was poorly stopped so to "make up for it" they show the whole fight again even though nobody was interested because everyone knew the outcome.
