Jean Pascal's arcticle about last night

The strongest asset of Edison Miranda isn't his 'power' or anything, it must be his promotional team. After going 3 rounds with a completely outmatched opponent, who other topnames certainly would have blown out in the first round, the feeling is created the Miranda 'is back in the mix', calling out Taylor and Pavlik. I wish Miranda all the best, but I wouldn't mind seeing him fighting an other contender first before jumping to big conclusions.

 

No way will Miranda get to fight even the loser of Pavlik-Taylor.

 

Pascal as been the last two years the most overhyped, without deserving it, boxer from Montreal. And he is going to pay for it soon. In about the last ten bouts he as not improved a bit and is defence as always been poor. He needs to get a new coach fast, but i am afraid its to late now.

 

Pascal SUCKED, plain and simple. He can try to explain it away but that wont hold up when the bell rings. It's a tad late to expect him to suddenly correct all his flaws.

Pascal, like Edison, is a great self-promoter so the buildup could be huge. I think it will come down to if HBO thinks Pascal is a worthy enough opponent for Miranda. They only want the big competitve fights. If it does not happen, than Jean can only kick himself in the ass for putting in a lackluster preformance when he was supposed to shine. This was his shot and he might have blown it.

 

i agree but tbh i think the plan is to have them fight in Montreal and the fact of the matter is that montreal fans flock to boxing fights like crazy and therefore GYM can generate a rather big purse compared to other Miranda opponents. Add to that the fact that Pascal is ranked in the top10 in every ABC and the Ring, this fight simply makes sense for Miranda. Especially if he thinks its a gimme fight.

 

You have some very good points. Yes, GYM as I have seen can pack the house with you crazy Canadian fans. A great crowd!

The question is, will HBO or Showtime come up with a lucrative enough deal that might put Edison in with a huge name. I know Edison and he wants to prove something. Yea, it usually comes down to money for most people, but Edison would fly across the pond and fight Calzaghe for a fraction of what he could make to beat Pascal.... He wants people to see him as a champion, not winning fights he is supposed to win.

 

I heard Yvon MIchel (GYM) on the radio and he said that the fight in june is not going to happen if showtime or HBO are not interested. So its not just a matter of bringing a big crowd to the fight.

Jean is really fast that is why I beleive in him. He showed a questionable chin though ... He still needs to change trainer and manager ! He had better stamina and was even faster like a year ago :-(. There is something wrong with is training I suspect to much weight lifting.
