I wish more people would respond like Floyd did. That is actually the proper response to receiving a headbutt.

If someone can get a free shot on you to make you bleed utilizing their head, how is it any different than if Tyson bites off Holyfield's ear? If Holyfield would have knocked Tyson out when Tyson tried to hug and kiss him after biting his ear off, then these people would be saying how unsportsmanlike Holyfield is for defending himself?

If someone just headbutted you, you aren't going to take too kindly to them in the clinch when they want to "hug" and "kiss" you.

The behavior by Ortiz was just weird and borderline homo. It doesn't belong in boxing. Boxing isn't tennis. It's fighting, it's about hurting people and knocking them out. Floyd knocked Ortiz out and thats the end of story. Ortiz can make any excuse he wants, it's his fault that he got knocked out by a sucker punch.

What next? Someone complaining that they got hit behind the head and knocked out?

    :deal

I wouldn't have even complained if he responded with a blatant nutpunch when Ortiz tried to hug him. Floyd is a gentleman for responding legally to an illegal move.

Get ready for Mares to Kick his ass a second time! Also yes both actions were wrong and unsportsmanlike. Right when the fight was becoming a war. A rematch sounds entertaining. With Floyd winning very likely.

My first reaction was to think that Floyd was a ****, well, even more of a **** than I originally thought anyways. I gave it some thought and came to the conclusion that if Ward starts that headbutting **** on Froch and Carl sucker punches him for it, I'd probably think it was hilarious so it would be hypocritical of me to criticise Floyd for it.

That still doesn't excuse such an obvious mismatch in the first place though.

    A headbutt deserves a DQ.

    2 wrongs don't make a right.

Nobody deserves a sucker punch. It's a coward's way out.

I'd have prefered to have seen Floyd KTFO Ortiz while Ortiz was trying to fight back.

    Very well put.

If Froch does that to Ward I will be celebrating.

Ortiz lost his cool and was in the wrong for the headbutts. However, he was already penalised a point, and Mayweather was in a position to punish him for the rest of the fight. What is totally classless and cowardly is if you pretend to embrace someone and then open up on them whilst they are apologising. No class. No honour.

I would have respected Mayweather a whole lot more if he just refused to acknowledge Ortiz's apology and carried on punishing him.

    Agreed.

In light of Khan-Judah and Mares-Agbeko, I think Ortiz thought there was a chance that he would get away with fighting dirty.

I don't think Ortiz really "lost his cool" with the head butt. I think that may have been a strategy going in to the fight. He was head butting for a good portion of the fight, and I think he was going to continue to see how far it would be allowed.

He took a chance and it didn't work.

And in that same light of the Khan-Judah and Mares-Agbeko "dirty fights", Mayweather was damned if he was going to let that shite happen to him!

Two wrongs even the score. Boxing is about hurting your opponent more than he can hurt you. It's about hit and don't get hit. It's about protect yourself at all times.

Ortiz should retire from boxing if he doesn't understand the most fundamental rules of fighting. Not boxing, but fighting in general. If it were Pacquiao, I'm pretty sure Pacquiao would have sucker punched him too.

It's called the killer instinct. Floyd has it and Ortiz doesn't.

Even in the lead up to the fight, Floyd was putting his hand around Ortiz's throat and Ortiz was looking like a goofy idiot.

What man will let another man punk them and put their hand around their throat? I know I wouldn't, and it wouldn't matter who the man was. He let Floyd do that and i saw the hint of softness then, and now he wants to get sympathy for being a soft boxer?

I don't think fans pay money to see boxers hug and kiss each other. They want to see someone get knocked the **** out. I'll take 10 Floyd's rather than watch boxers hugging and kissing each other.

Tyson's bites were in retaliation for holyfields headbutts, so you're either saying the bites were smart or floyd should have been disqualified...

That was striaght out of the WWE if I have ever seen it!

Somone in Floyds corner distracted the ref and Floyd leveled Ortiz with two illegal shots with ref distracted for a KO. I see that all the time on monday night raw.
