I don't think we gotta stop doing that, it's just that you have to compare them more with other fighters of the same epoch (how much they stand out), than with fighters who fought in other epoch, with different rules, equipment (how big and thick a glove is, plays very important role), etc.

    You may be correct.

I haven't seen Dempseys quote but it sounds like respect - Tunneys was certainly glowing praise. Unlikely he would fabricate that level of appreciation for Corbetts style unless it was genuine.

But still, you could be right especially considering Corbett was Gene Tunneys fathers favourite fighter.

Rocky Marciano critics: Too small, too slow, clumsy, fought weak competition..............

The only one of those points that to me can be argued is the competition, and he fought the best that were offered @ the time.

    - When people question Ali's resume.

    - When people think Wlad could defeat the greats

    - When people think Lewis is the best thing that anyone had ever seen

    - When people discredit Sugar Ray Leonard saying he ducked Pryor.

I almost agree, it is just that there are some who treat his opinion as fact.

Fleischer deserves a voice, and helped keep alive some fighters who could of been swallowed up by history; but what needs to be accepted is like me and you, Fleischer was human and will have his own bias in his opinions.

People fall in love with the history books and black and white film. Lewis trounces Marciano/Dempsey (anyone of the lil heavyweight ilk), Roy jones schools anyone called the 'human windmill', Hopkins IS one of the best middelweights of all time, Hopkins-Hagler is a 50-50 fight.

Basically anyone who i disagree with, i find annoying.

Nothing, it's all got it's place. I must admit i do get some good kicks out of some things, but it's more fun and laughter than genuinely being pissed off. I guess the odd imbecile who invades for a short time with utter rot before finding the General forum can be a bit of a pain.
