Yeah i remember that, then all of sudden he had a bunch of yes men...the writing was on the wall with the Valuev fight...he looked poor and lack imagination for a man of his talent.

With Mayweather its more to do with not fighting worthy guys consistently. He is lucky Pac has lost a step, he would be butt whupped by him in 2009.

But Mayweather has stayed the same, his style far softer on the body whilst Pac is past his prime.

 

ANYONE would flip out like that. Its not just this interview though. Its every single one. larry merchant concentrates more on the negatives and a possible fight with pacquiao.

 

Tyson was 20/21, blazing through most of those guys, and took on the best in a relatively weak division. Even as he got older he still faced top opposition like Holyfield and Lewis. Because he fought regularly it was more excusable that he fought sometimes weaker opposition.

Floyd, conversely, is 34 and has fought three times in what three years? One of those was a lightweight stepping up, one was a LWW stepping up, and the last one is a former LWW who'd quit in his biggest test previous and been decked twice by a very average fighter in Berto.

He's already beaten the man who beaten the man who beat Berto, so what's the point?

He needs to fight Pacquiao - simple as that.

Ortiz got disqualified early in his career for hitting some **** when he was down.. why is that Ortiz's fault? Shouldn't the guy just "protect himself at all times" even when falling?

Floyd squaring up to an 80 year old interviewer after is quite simply pathetic regardless of whatever Merchant said, which by the way was hardly anything.

Larry was right when he said after that Mayweather flipped because he knew he was gonna be asked about why he won't fight Pacquiao.

 

What is it with Floyd boys? He may not have done something "wrong" by the rules, but he did take advantage of Ortiz when he was trying to apologise. I have no sympathy for Victor but it was poor sportsmanship and was just as bad as what the younger man did.

Floyd didn't really answer the question. He didn't have to hit when Ortiz wasn't looking, it was also clearly calculated. He would have knocked the guy out anyway, so what Merchant was asking was, why diminish what would have been a memorable victory by resorting to cheap tactics?

Of course, Floyd didn't like that since he'd have to explain why he was a douche. It was easier to play the victim and say Merchant doesn't give him credit. Except that he does - he's always said Floyd is an outstanding fighter but that his attitude is rotten. Can't really disagree with him there.
