Ok, I've heard people on this site call fighters that are in the top 10 universal rankings of a given weight-class as bums. This is a practice that ****ing pisses me off, how stupid can people here be? Not everyone can be #1 in their ****ing weight class, and do these people even realise how many fighters there are? The term was NOT created for fighters who are just below top-class, and I wish some of you ****s would realise that.
A bum is someone that clearly has no business being in a professional boxing ring or amateurs for that matter. It's just the yanks that state everyone that fights outside of America is automatically a bum.
Because 99.9 percent of this forum has never even stepped in the ring. And then there's the RZA's, but in my book.. he doesn't count, because he suffers from severe ******ation.
Thats not bad. A bum can also be a fighter who only fights overmatched opponents so that he can look great. Never taking a chance fighting an opponent who is capable of fighting back. Or a fighter who is brought in to lose and make his opponent look good. There are these type of fighters who are well conditioned and have experience and educated hands. But they know that they can make more money coming in as the opponent. Not trying to win but just to survive. We can go on and on with ths one.
To be honest, none of the names mentioned on this site are bums. They are all professional boxers, with good records. Just because they come up short against the best, or are C level, that isn't a bum by my definition If they were that bad nobody would give enough of a **** to mention them on a boxing forum
Bums are guys who have less than .500 records and never fought even contender level or journeyman level fighters (and when they do, they lose). Rarely are they mentioned here, as TFFP mentions above. People refer to fighters who are not as good as perceived, or fighters they simply don't like because of style as a bum....IE Cory Spinks, who would be 99% of the boxers in or around his weight class despite being boring. People call him a bum all the time.
"Bums" are fighters who don't rank in the top 2-3% of their profession. Sometimes they are in the top 1% but still are called "bums". Where do you rank at your job?
