FW to leave Sky according to Twitter

It will all come down to money.
How much do sky pay for an average Saturday night card? 100k? I don't know I'm guessing.
How many ppv,s do you need to sell to beat that hypothetical figure? 10k at £10 each.

Sadly PPV isn't about quality of a card, it's about how many people are prepared to pay for it.
That's not how it should be ideally? But it's a realistic look at the situation.

I remember the arguement with Ofcom, something about sky sports costing way more on virgin etc than sky. So sky charge a fee to broadcast on their platform, whats to stop them 'upping the rent' on a ****** channel, if they wanted a fight?



Haha, i know. seems that 99% of the chat on here is now about contracts, tv and managers etc and thats not our fault. theres hardly ANY interesting fights out there imo

 

I have a full Sky HD subscription with Sports and Film. Think its good value for money.

I saw one of my parents bills and it was about 90 without movies but with sports and internet a month.


Living in manchester i had a virgin acount and noticed some higher charges, challenged them about it and they denied it, kept on going on, through out some of my law stuff, they **** themselves and sent me a cheque for £252. just like that

 

10k at £10 doesn't =£100k. You're forgetting VAT, broadcasting costs, productions, platform costs, staffing, infrastructure to handle the calls etc etc

To earn £100k takes more than10k buys by a decent stretch

 

I think they have to have set pricing for all operators under fair practises legislation. There might be exemptions for additional HD services, etc...

I saw the base price for using the platform, admin costs and technical standards Sky enforce. They seem pretty standardised, but I only saw what the legal team gave me to write about, so it might be restricted. I don't know.

What I would say is that if FW could contest restriction of service, or unfair practises, he could have a lawsuit against BSkyB. And we all know how litigious Frank is.

 

Venus, are PT publicly traded, or part of a publicly traded company?

I'd be interested in seeing the cost:income ratios on a PPV broadcast. I expect you can't share specific profit share deals, but it would give me context into why the company believes this is a sustainable model.

Well he can go **** himself if he thinks the fans will fork over money to watch a British ****in title on BoxNation. Hungry *******. I hope most of his stable ****s off to Matchroom.

 

I pay for Premier Sports and I buy most shows on Primetime. But these two channels generally put on shows which include world class fighters. Now unless Fwank has struck up a relationship with one of the big American Promoters to include some of there shows. Who in there right mind is going to pay subscription or PPV for any of Fwanks cards.

I like watching Mitchell, Cleverly, Degale, Grove, Bellew etc when they fight on Sky. But there is no way I would pay a fee to watch them.

I know Sky Sports is not free but I like most people pay mainly for the football, the boxing is just a bonus.

 

i think he will. notice his next 2 big shows are on October 15th and November 12th. Same nights as Hopkins and Pacquiao.

Depends how much boxing they put on. Frank has being complaining recently about not getting enough dates from Sky.

And he's had talks with Golden Boy recently and he's tight with Arum so maybe he could have a deal to show their fights not featuring Khan, Mayweather or Pac on BoxNation? :think

But seriously how many people are going to fork out an extra tenner a month?
