So looks like W*rren is starting a boxing channel. What does he need to make it work?

    Price Structure

Can anything more then £8 really be justifiable for a channel that only shows one sport no matter how much content there is?

    Content

1 big fight per month surley cannot work surley? He is gonna need to be providing something every other weekend, and not just from the UK we are going to need to see fights from the US and Europe. I would imagine there will be preview shows. A Bunce Hour would be a great idea but if its on this channel would it be to biased?

    Production

We are in the era of HD/3D. Anyone thats seen boxing in these formats love it. Will punters be prepared to pay a premium for non HD boxing? Who will do the commentating, punditry etc.

If anyone from his organisation reads this then he needs to make it accessible via the internet. I get my Sky TV through broadband and boxnation is not an option on it. If the fights leave the main Sky sports channels then i am ****ed for watching

Apparently its going to have a 'big event' every weekend and while that sounds great I just cant see it coming off.
A buncey show every week would be brilliant and obviously FW is going to need other promoters/shows on this to make it worth the money.
Snapping up the Euro cards from Sauerland and the cards that primetime would be in for will have to happen.

Huck and Donaire both fight on Oct 22.Those are the fights he needs to be getting I think especially coming a week after Bellew/Cleverly and maybe Hopkins/Dawson.

3D is a load of pish. The take-up on it has been so bad that manufacturers are desperately trying to find new tech to replace it. Chances are it'll be internet TVs with on-demand services that make a big impact.

But your point is taken. That said, Frank could do something good with this:

Screen classic fights - it's inexpensive to buy rights to fights from the 70s/80s and 90s. It gets more complicated from 2000 and on, but FW has rights to all his shows, a chunk of the stuff he did with DKP and anything he's co-promoted. That's a huge backswell of content.

Screen the best national and international bouts. Fights from outside the US and Germany are a lot cheaper to purchase due to their obscurity.

Finally, screen major FW domestic events and big-ticket foreign bouts.

Setanta were able to do it, no reason why FW can't.

Picking up Pacquaio vs Marquez would send out a big message.

Without trying to be funny, this!

We need at least 2 live fights a mouth, 1 British and 1 US. These need to be major fights. I think £6.99 is value, considering we pay that a month for Premier. If this is gonna show more fights, my PS subscription will be cancelled.

    1. Setanta also had Premier League and England football.
    2. Setanta went under.

Didn't Setanta go under cos of their football deals? They paid too much for Prem and FA Cup/England games.

true but would they ever get off the ground without it. boxing hasnt really worked for premier sports under a subscription model i dont see how it will work for this to.

    £10 a month. No chance.
