I've spoke to a few people i know and mentioned the channel. They're not hardcore fans, they're casual's who watch the "big" fights.

None of them said they'll be subscribing...

Frank ****** is an idiot! Why doesn't he think about building these fighters up on terrestrial tv so that the public can actually hear about them, and then put them on PPV when they're big? James DeGale etc are virtually unknown outside of hardocre boxing fans!
Mick Hennesy has the right idea now. Everyone is learning about Tyson Fury as they are watching him fre eon CH.5, and now in the future they will pay for his PPV's if he becomes huge!

Im willing to give the guy whos been putting on shows for 30 years a chance and see what he can do to be honest.
People on a forum can give their opinion and say its a definite failure but the man himself said they can get 100k easily so why does he think its possible yet people on here who havent promoted any shows and never will know different?

He did try, in fairness. ITV said they weren't looking to do more boxing. Ch5 were a big surprise. Not sure if FW spoke to them.

Surely £10 a month for a boxing channel isn't much to ask from people who willingly spunk up £70+ every month for Sky HD, Sky+, MultiRoom and God knows what else from Sky?

:goodAround 36p a day for a dedicated boxing channel that runs from 6-12pm 7 days a week and goes into the morning when there is American cards live.

Anyone have a rough estimate at how many subscribers Prem Sports gets?

i've already got rid of sky sports, premier sports and havent bought any primetime ppvs.

i might subscribe to this new one depending on how their schedule develops - looks ok so far.

although it was nice when you got everything on sky sports, i'm not too sure about supporting a monopoly even if it makes things a little cheaper for me. like the americans have had to do for years, its probably now time to pick and choose which channels you are willing to pay for and what you are willing to miss.

****ing hell, people need to get in their mind that telling a FORUM to boycott something won't do ****!

People said the exact sane about Floyd-Ortiz and that it would be terrible, but it did 40K PPV's.

The general public were interested, they bought it. Telling a few hundred on a forum isn't going to change anything.

It worked to get Jeff into Prizefighter. You reckon it was the general public that bought the most PPV's for Floyd-Ortiz? I dont.

The general public wont be interested in watching boxing when its PPV on all channells.

    Every little helps my friend.

Premier has been value for money for me. They've shown fights which otherwise wouldn't have been aired over here. Why should I boycott them?

Boxnation looks like value for money. 2 cards a week + Buncy for less than £2.50. Why should I boycott them?

Telling people on this forum to boycott rip off boxing shows/channels is a bit like telling a 15 year old girl to boycott Facebook.
Most of those that claim to be boycotting boxing generally pay up last minute on the night, they always do with PPVs. Us consumers will continue to be ripped off for the foreseeable future, we'll keep on complaining whilst still paying.

At £2.50 a week I am definitely subscribing. At the end of the day, this is a hobby, it is entertainment. Whatever people think of VVarren personally, missing out on all this dedicated boxing coverage for such a small sum feels like cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. I see the counter-argument that if we support it then it will become the norm, but this is 2011: most of these fights will never get on mainstream, free-to-air television whatever happens with Boxnation. I'm a massive fan of boxing, Boxnation will screen loads of fights and analysis, £2.50 a week is peanuts (less than a pint in my local) - this is a good week for me as a fight fan.

I have Sky anyway for films etc., and can dip in and out of Primetime if they have a bill I fancy that feels worth the £15 or whatever. It strikes me that we suddenly have many more options when it comes to watching boxing than we did a while back when Setanta went bust. There will always be a bit of hate on internet fora, but I think it's great that we're getting a dedicated boxing channel in this country - I have wanted one for years!
