explain to me the difference? and leonard is till regarded as a great even tho he did not fight a fighter who at the time everyone thought would rought him up and give him a hard fight? in my opinion mayweather does not need to fight paq to still continue on the path to greatness and go down in history..
Difference is Leonard fought guys like Duran, Hagler, Hearns, etc. While Floyd is fighting Victor Ortiz.
The media wasn't able to expose Leonard for ducking back then because at the time there was no internet. Leonard is the biggest ducker of all time and never gets called out for it btw.
And Manny has fought weight drained Cotto, shot and drained Margo, and drained Oscar, and previously KO'd by Floyd and Lazcano Hatton. :rofl:rofl:rofl They both have their legacies, Floyd doesn't need Manny and Manny doesn't need Floyd.
It's not the same, Pacquiao is bigger then Pryor ever was and Leanard had beaten the likes of Benitez, Hearns, Hagler and Duran who the **** is Pryor compared to those greats? Also Floyd needs a solid ATG to cement down his own legacy as one of the best ever.
The difference is that Leonard offered Pryor a career high payday of $500k, Pryor wanted more money, Leonard fought bigger and better opponents for more money, and HBO comes along a couple decades later and pollutes the minds of boxing fans with their myths. Mayweather and Pacquiao are the two top P4Pers, actually fight in the same division, would be the biggest fight ever money-wise, and both guys are facing easier opponents for less money.
at least try to keep the comparison within leonard and floyd. obviously you can't do that because you can't find all the reasons in the world to justify corrales > duran, baldomir > hearns, and shane > hagler.
A Leonard-Pryor comparison nowadays would be if it Tim Bradley constantly challenged Mayweather in public (and was a much better fighter than he is), got offered a fight but turned it down, and then Mayweather fought Pacquiao instead (and also an 154 lb champ, as Ray did shortly before facing Hearns).
Not taking anything away from Pryor because he was tough but Hagler, Duran and Hearns were more dangerous to Leonard that Pryor. Only Martinez is more dangerous than Pac and Floyd won't fight hm neither. Before you say Mayweather vs Pacquiao = Leonard vs Pryor, Floyd would have to have taken on an opponent on the level as Hearns and Duran. He hasn't. Leonard = a warrior. Floyd = a talker.
pryor was seemed as a threat after he beat those. its the case of he cleaned up everyone of them and then here is pryor. if floyd beats paq. they will creat another person floyd is scared of.. ie khan
That's becaue there's no question about Leonard's legacy at all. Hagler is way more dangerous than Pryor. Leonard fought all the challeges he could. Floyd hasn't. There's no doubt Leonard was the man at 147 because he beat the men (Duran, Hearns) to prove it. He didn't avoid them and say he was the best because his record was better. If you even think of a list of all of the guys Leonard ducked and compared them to the guys Floyd ducked you will see a big difference.
