Someone explain to me how having plaster of paris in your gloves would benefit them? Woulnd't it just break up, and if it didnt, it would hurt your hands?

The plaster of paris adds weight to the glove itself which can give the punch more velocity and through an 8oz glove, the contact is much harder. Marg's hands were probably padded correctly under the plaster which protected his hands to a degree but i remember there being a post fight vid where you can see blood on marg's hand wraps. The cheating *******.

Doubt it's that amazing. Cotto is too cool to get into a war of words or to start a brawl.

Cotto's got one good advantage in this fight and that's Manny Steward in camp and corner. Manny read this fight well from his commentary position and i believe the fact Cotto is a bit more upright and less leaning over front foot will help him not take so many uppercuts. Also far far to much lateral movement used in the first fight this time throw 2 with power rather then 4 quick punches and away. Sit on the shots dip and roll away and reset.

That is imperative. As is the fact that Steward has almost completely eradicated that elbows-out guard Miguel had, which made his chin even more open to uppercuts when coupled with what you've said here.

    THROW TO THE BODY MIGUEL!!!

    :deal:good

Plus the everlast gloves seem to be Steward's choice maybe for defensive reasons?. Always interests me when fighters wear different gloves and it was brought up when he beat Foreman.

if cotto learns to clinch margo after he gets off a combo and goes to the body hard early he should take this

war cotto, hope he puts him away in a good fight

I think so yeah, they seem a bit wider due to the way Steward tapes them, a lot higher up the glove than most do it from what I've seen, which is why he's implemented the one glove across the face-type guard as he did a couple of times as he was moving out of range against Foreman and Mayorga.

Steward does it with other fighters he has too:

Wlad wraps his own hands, which may be why you don't see it with him as you do with other Steward pupils.

whenever I've Wlad and Steward together its been Steward that's wrapped his hands, especially during training camp.

back on topic though, since Steward came in we've seen Cotto attack the body more.

Can anyone give me some examples where a guy who had been broken down, won a rematch?
I cannot think of any of the top of my head but I know there must be some!:think

Me neither, but it's worth remembering that Cotto was winning the fight until the sixth. He got his tactics wrong and Margo put himself through hell to pull it out.

His pummelling at the hands of Mosley and then Pac just make me think that Cotto ruined him as much as he ruined Cotto. He's not been the same since that night.

I think Cotto's versatility will give him an advantage against an even slower Margarito. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cotto engage Margo early when he's warming up and put some hurt on him.

And really, for the good of boxing, Margo deserves another kicking. He's a cheating scumbag and I have no doubts at all that he cheated against Miguel.
