That was my first reaction, especially how Ortiz seemed so glad the fight was over, but on reflection & taking into account Ortiz history I just think he was looking for a way out, hence he was glad when it was over. I don't agree with what Mayweather did, he should of been above that, but I can understand why he did it.
I don't think it was fixed, but I found Ortiz' reaction to the outcome very questionable as well as the absence of punching power similar to what he brought against Berto. Something was different about Ortiz. Mayweather did his part and did it very well. He is an excellent defensive fighter. He fights out of an extremely tight defensive formation and only throws punches that connect. The second the fight started and Ortiz failed to swarm him, I knew it was either going to be a late KO or huge UD for Floyd. The key to beating Mayweather is pressure, pressure, pressure. Non-Stop punching. Anything else simply won't get the job done.
Mayweather KO's Big Show in Wrestlemania... fixed. Mayweather KO's Ortiz... not fixed. Wrestlemania referee's competence vs. Joe Cortez' competence... about the same.
Well wrestlemania referees are "paid to be competence"... Agreed very much the same, Joe Cortez is well paid for his "competence"...
You don't need to fix a fight like this. It was a mismatch from the start, which just goes to show you how big the gap between the top 2 WWs in Mayweather & Pacquiao and the rest of the WWs. Ortiz has some talent, but is a weirdo and a headcase. Launching that E-Honda headbutt and then thinking Floyd was a tree-hugger who wanted to kiss and make up numerous times.
I would smile too if I could sucker punch the paying boxing fans twice with the rematch due to it's controversial ending.
i'm surprised 2 out of 5 thinks this fight was fixed. i actually don't blame them. you have two dirty guys using their elbow and head, a referee that doesn't seem to care and an ending that looks like a scene from WWE.
