I have never seen any Light Heavyweight Champ. in the boxing history who moved up to the HWD and could dominate this biggest division in the long run before. They just came to the HWD for a short period of time and then they were sent back to the place where they belonged. Moore, Foster, Charles, Spink, Jones, Haye, and Adamek. Do I miss to mention anyoneelse?
...Charles wasn't technically the light heavyweight champion but obviously a great light heavy, and he defended the title eight times. :? Floyd Patterson was also a light heavyweight (not champ) but he dominated the heavyweight division.
I wouldn't say he dominated the division anyhow. He made a few defences before getting destroyed by Liston. Not once, but twice.
No not really any dominant former LHWS, but then there were very few dominant HWs too. Louis, Liston, Tyson, and the Klits. But I dont think LHWs are meant to be dominant in a division that is not naturally theres. But could happen.
Yeah, my point is size does it matter. Just see what's happening now in the HWD as the Klitschko brothers, the giant heavyweights, who are dominating it.
Addie is trying to get my goat. Cute kid. Yes, I know he wasn't the light heavy champ, nopporn, but you mentioned Charles, therefore Patterson had to be mentioned, as neither were light heavyweight champions. In essence though, the size issue, they were both top light heavies. Then, there is Tunney, who didn't stick around long, but he dethroned Dempsey and was the top man. Tunney, not the light heavy champ but he was really a top light heavyweight coming up and taking it.
From 1948-1951 Ezzard Charles went 16-0 at Heavyweight. He completely cleaned out the division of every contender, captured the HW title, and defended it 8 times. He was ultimately dethroned by a guy he already beat twice. Though he never recaptured the title, he remained a top 2-3 HW until 1956. FAIL
Yeah alright! I got it. Charles wasn't. You gave me good examples about Patterson and Tunney. Lets talk about those great Li. heavyweights who tried to beat their bigger opponents in the HWD. In case of Roy Jones, he left the HWD very soon becuase he knew that he couldn't stay there in the long run.
