Anyone see that 48 Hrs. piece on the death of Arturo Gatti?

It was excellent. Very thorough and fair and balanced. Gave both sides their due. At the end of the day, it is a very close call, but I now slightly lean towards believing that he killed himself, but do not rule out the possibility that he was murdered.

Cmon guys.. This is not a eastsideboxing mystery that we are forced to solve. This is getting ridilicious, please give some respect to his memory. What ever happened it's not our business to act like idiots ''HEY WHAT DO YOU THINK WHAT REALLY HAPPENED????''

I saw it. It made the best argument for a possible suicide that I've heard until now, as well as a decent argument for murder, although neither outcome was proven conclusively. It sort of just left **** in the air for us decide on our own.

his brother believes he killed himself. the way his body was to the side of the staircase and a little under it made it hard to believe he committed suicide. gatti had a lot of problems. but, nobody still knows what really happened. seems like his family wants some of gattis money. 3 weeks before his death he leaves his fortune to his wife and kid. why would he do that? weird, indeed. they interviewed some of his friends and they say gatti wanted to kill himself. it is quite sad, indeed

Mario Costa, ID'd as a Gatti pal, backs the suicide theory. "He wanted to kill himself, he wanted to die," Costa said. The fighter got addicted to painkillers, and was hospitalized for an OD in 2005, the show reported. Medical records show doctors suggested a psych evaluation and his ex girlfriend, the show says, deemed the OD a suicide attempt.

Costa said Gatti once showed up at Costa's bar, and asked for a gun, to use to kill himself. Costa hadn't seen Gatti in three years before his death but says he thinks the fighter killed himself.

Arturo's brother Joe Gatti, also an ex fighter, is shown saying Arturo was on drugs and "was an alcoholic." The older Gatti said he thinks Arturo took his own life. "On that night in Brazil he found himself in a dark place," he said. Joe told the show that he thought Amanda might be suspect, but she won his trust.

    Interesting stuff.

They also threw in the bit where they informed us that the body movement specialist conducted his study not knowing that a chair had been placed underneath where Gatti hung himself and fell.

Prety inconclusive episode in my opinion. All sides of the argument were explained, but no theory was proven without a shadow of doubt.

Dude try thinking about this logically, there are pretty standard ways people generally try to kill themselves and using the strap on a handbag definitely isn't one of them. People don't hang themselves with handbags. Don't over think things, it's that simple.

He might have been killed as much as he might have commited suicide. But one thing is clear in my mind, she's lying and we missing some pieces of this puzzle. Because she saw him dead into his blood and she didn't do anything to help him even sereval hours after his dead.

Gatti's picture into his blood is shocking imo, it is simply impossible that a human being don't know that something wrong when they are so much blood on the floor.

I saw this. That wannabe fake Mario Costa just wanted to be on TV. Do you guys remember, seeing him on on the show on hob about Billy Collins and Luis Resto? They showed him there also. Arturo gatti, didn't kill himself. no way. The *****, snuck up behind him hit him in the head, and chocked him with that purse string, while he was weakened. He beat her up earlier that night, which is well documented and video taped. He got what was coming to him. He smacked around the other of his son. Great Fighter and exciting, but a Piece of ****.

Almost done watching it...the private investigation doesn't seem credible to me.

Exactly. Even if he killed himself, it doesn't mean the wife isn't a grasping gold-digger who's hiding something. I don't trust her one iota, and if there is any justice in this world she won't get a dime.
