Francois Botha vs. Michael Grant on November 19

Not exactly. Wladimir Klitschko fought David Haye, Vitali Klitschko fought Tomasz Adamek, Alexander Povetkin fought Ruslan Chagaev, Eddie Chambers and Tony Thompson are going to fight. Even a couple of undefeated prospects of Tyson Fury and Dereck Chisora fought each other. All these fights have happened this year and fights that are very likely to happen next year are Vitali-Haye, Wladimir vs Arrerola/Adamek. Seems like there is a nice steady stream of top 5/10 fighters fighting each other.

 

this might not be a big fight, but, it is gonna be good to watch i think. someone is getting ktfo

A very good bout, to see who is ranked higher for shot at 1997 heavyweight title. What are they fighting for, health care benefits?

 

^ think this is more a case of trying to get a win and their name out there still, out of sight out of mind after all. I expect the winner to do as pretty much every WBF champion has done - put very little stock in the belt and look to ditch it when a better opportunity comes along.

Botha is durable and more crafty than Grant. He's not known as a big puncher but he sent Flo Simba spacey last fight out with a hard shot, and he'll be looking to pick that mark for his roundhouse right. He'll try to grapple and rough-house and get up in Grant's face.

Grant's got the better gas tank though, better physical condition, can definitely hit heavy and is much more of a set counter-puncher these days, which should mean his significant reach advantage can come into play. He'll also be looking to get his short right hand in as Botha advances.

It's either Botha early or Grant late. I'll call the latter.

 

I hope Grant. With his size and power, he would make a good opponent for a Klit, regardless fo his limitations. He loast to Adamke, but has already rebounded with an entertaining win against Tye Fields, and Botha plus another decent win might get him there.

If Botha wins, where does he go from there? Tehre is no market for a Botha-Klit match at all. In fact, I think Wlad already beat him.

 

Grant has been looking for a big fight and no one wanted to fight him. He is settling for Botha. However if he scores another KO like he did on Fields, then he might actually get a big fight, maybe even Wladimir. Hell he is much more live than Mormeck and a five times bigger draw the fight was promoted properly.

 

I am interested in seeing this fight.

Fury should take the winner.

Grant didn't look too shabby against Adamek despite Adamek turning out to be a **** poor HW - Grant's power apparently is still there and Botha is not gonna run way.

 

You must be time warped. These were journeymen at best during their peaks and that was almost 15 years ago.

I might be biased but i am looking forward to this one! Both won there last matches pretty well.

chances are Botha will get caught at some point and will go down. But up close and personal is where grant has problem as far as i can see. Guinn was constantly standing not an arms distants apart during there match. High pressure approach. That i think is where Botha needs to be in this fights. If he stands off like he has done when he has gassed, it will be lights out. If they Go passed the 6th the will both gas and my opinion is a Botha win by points.

But hey go Botha!
