The only other's I give a remote chance of putting up a good challenge to Floyd are Khan and Bradley.

 

I went with none because I don't see anyone with the skills to beat PBF but I say Martinez would give him the best battle. He dominates the rest of the choices on that list.

 

Martinez would, but it would be unfair. Martinez would be too big.

Khan won't right now, but in 1 to 2 years and a few bouts at welterweight, he will be the man to beat Mayweather.

It's funny, but no one mentions Canelo as a possible opponent for Mayweather. I don't think Canelo could do it, but as popular as he is, I'm surprised that he isn't mentioned as a possible opponent.

I also think that Alfredo Angulo would give Mayweather more trouble than he wants. Not saying Perro would win, but with his style, I think he would rough Mayweather up a bit and make him fight for 12 full rounds.

Martinez is the one with the chance to beat Floyd.

Pac loses by UD.

Cotto, Margo and Khan get stopped.

Mayweather stands the best chance against Pac because of his size, I think Mayweather's punches may hurt him.

Margarito is too strong, and too tough, and would eventually push Mayweather to the ropes and force Mayweather to work too hard, and eventually break him down and stop him.

He's just too big for Mayweather, and his style is all wrong for him.

If Mayweather was a puncher, perhaps he would win, but if Pac can't knock Margarito out, no way Mayweather would.

Perhaps, Mayweather's stamina would prevail and he would win a decision, but if the Ortiz fight was any indication, it's doubtful.

It was a smart move by Mayweather's team to avoid Margarito.

Also, Margarito MAY be finished. It's hard to say. The jury is out.

Martinez is just too big, too strong, and too skilled, and he's a southpaw.

If Martinez choosed to soley box, and decides not to try to press the fight and knock Floyd out, Floyd has a good chance, but if Martinez realizes that Floyd can't hurt him, it's goodnight Floyd.

 

Cotto, Margarito, and Khan have no shot. Pacquiao could beat him. Martinez would beat him.

 

Margo at this point is a walk in the park for Floyd, he'll do something close to a Mosley like performance on Margarito. You only need to work the eye that Pacquiao ruined on Margo and you win by stoppage, Mayweather is to accurate on offense and Margo is too poor on defense (despite I'm picking him to beat Cotto because he's got Cotto's number). Pacquiao carried Margarito, he would have stopped him if he wanted to.

Maybe Martinez, but None of the above is the correct answer.

 

Martinez would be the toughest task and would have a shot. The rest, not so much.

 

If Mayweather can't put a dent in Ortiz, what makes you think he can hurt Margarito?

At this point, you may be correct in assessing that Margo is finished, but if he's not, he presents serious problems that Floyd may not be able to overcome.

I know that Pac beat Margo, but Pac is a serious puncher. That's what makes Pac so special aside from his speed and his work ethic, it's his power.

Mayweather doesn't possess this aspect, and given how Ortiz managed to get Mayweather against the ropes quite frequently, I think Margarito who is equally as big, but probably tougher, should be able to do that as well.

However, if Mayweather conserves his energy, fights soley off the backfoot, and and is in excellent condition, he would win this fight.

I think I might be putting too much into what I saw with him against Ortiz, but he looked incredibly vulnerable.

I think Ortiz size and strength were getting to Floyd. In addition, Floyd had a much higher workrate than Ortiz, (often throwing very hard punches), and missed far more than he normally does.

Margarito was avoided for a reason. It's a very hard fight for Floyd. Styles make fights.

If Floyd had more power...he would be unbeatable. But you can't have everything...

He is human afterall.

 

Pac, Cotto and Khan are all live underdogs (I give Pac about a 45% chance of pulling it off and the other two 35%). Martinez would be favoured. Floyd embarrasses Margo.
