Atlas is a little like that in the sense that when things are going bad the cheerleaders come onto the pitch to cuss you out.

When you're hit in the mush with the same punch repeatedly, doesn't help to hear: "YA GOTTA BE BUSIER!"

Lou Duva to Meldrick Taylor in the Chavez fight- "You need this round!"

Hasim Rahman's trainers in the second Lewis fight- "When he punches, just keep your arms out; it blocks everything!"

  4. Just double the damn jab.

Keep punching him, that's how Calzaghe beat him.

He knew that sooner or later Ortiz was going to get countered because in boxing everyone gets hit sooner or later. Especially against one of the best counter punchers ever.

Some fighters even apply a style to take 1 or 2 punches in orde to give one.

It would be unrealistic to think Ortiz was not going to get hit and countered in the fight.

Probably a very stupid move on his part, at least Emmanuel would have stopped it in round 6 or 7, instead of allowing Cotto to spend the rest of the fight running away and getting clipped with enough big punches to hurt him but not quite end it.

I think that might say something about Santiago again that he didn't tell Cotto to go for it, **** loyalty, go for the seasoned professional corner man, and something about the rest of his team. The big fat guy should have pinned Cotto down and lied on him till he picked up the phone to Emmanuel and accepted the offer.

    How is that bad advice?

It was working. Ortiz, 15 lbs heavier than the challenger was grinning in the ring, and slowly getting to Floyd and firing off body shots, forcing Floyd to work at a harder pace.

Floyd hit Ortiz with everything he had, full intensity, and Ortiz still kept coming foward.

What makes you think Floyd would maintain that intesity despite the fact that he began to neglect the body attack, was throwing far more punches than usual typically with intensity, and was getting hit repeatedly with body shots by Ortiz?

If anything, Ortiz with his youth, body attack, and measured attack would have started to come on more as was already evident before the fight was stopped.

And Ortiz was walking through Mayweather's punches to get to him.

It seems like that psychological advice was working, so what exactly is your problem with it?

You mean because Mayweather managed to knock Ortiz down with one punch he didn't expect and the other he didn't see NOR expect?

Is that what your basing your comments off of? Because before that, I saw Mayweather landing punches, but I didn't see Ortiz look hurt or getting broken down like so many people are implying.

Rewatch the fight...and try to stay objective. See for yourself.

Seriously, you're about to go on my ignore list with this bull****. For the last time because you are either stupid or blind: ORTIZ WAS GETTING HIS ASS KICKED!!

The irony of you telling anybody to stay objective while watching a fight is hilarious. Especially when you are either extremely biased yourself, or just have no ****ing clue what you are seeing.
