If anything he is slightly underrated by the public because his highest profile fights tended to be losses but he was past his prime by then and had solidified a place as an atg before even moving to welter.

He took it close with Hagler - who himself is regarded as a top 3 MW of all time

He is, I still consider him the best or number 2 since 1980 till now but there hasnt been a win that made a guys legacy skyrocket as much as montreal did for Duran.
I always get the idea im not seeing something that most people do with duran, maybe if I was a fan in the 70's/80's I would understand it better.

he was a fat 30+ year old cokehead giving hagler a tough chess match, should of got his win over comacho and brucked up iran barkley.

nah, the guy was world class when he was finished competitively. thats pretty outstanding what he achieved when he was already the old guy compared to the other 3 in the fantastic 4

I certainly don't believe so but many believe he is overrated at WW because too much weight is placed on his peformance in one fight. One could certainly counter that that one fight was against arguably the greatest WW ever.

One of the best, hardest and toughest men to ever lace em up. Did well in a great era, would have done good in any era, would do great in this era (which is a pretty good one).
