In an ideal world should Calzaghe have rematched Hopkins?

No, he should had fought Bute, Ward or Froch...but instead Big Joe went home...

 

Even today at 39 years of age and the kind of stamina he had, he could still be rockin.

Guess he either had concerns with his health and preferred a new career, or simply feared for his 0 and loved cocaine.

 

The only fight he considered was Dawson, he beat Hopkins at 175, even though that was not his weight. He was not going to stay around that old with his hands at lightheavyweight to fight Dawson.

 

A rematch would have been good for Hopkins, bad for Calzaghe.
Therefore, it didn't and won't happen.

 

Hopkins should have been disqualified in the first fight. He didn't want to fight, only hold, punch low, fake getting hit by low blows, and stall. This fight was a low point in Hopkins' career and there not being a rematch was the best thing for him. Calzaghe had nothing to prove in a rematch and Hopkins went on to beat fighters that helped him look like a god. Should there have been a rematch? No. It was better for both of them and we didn't have to watch it.

judges and a racist black judge who favored hopkins, and he still
got a well deserved wide decision, and there is NO controversy.
Nobody who doesn't hate and envy successful white fighters thinks
hopkins won more than 3 rounds and 1 extra pt for the knockdown,
much less the fight. All you joe haters who can't seem to get over the
loss of the big black snaggletoothed ******* who lost to a "white boy"

No. Because no one would ever buy a rematch of a completely boring fight that Calzaghe was going to win because he knows the old man's tricks now and he knows that the other guy will never match him in terms of stamina. Besides, if the rematch occurs in Wales, there is NO WAY Calz will lose that fight.

The only reason it was close was because Hopkins made it an ugly fight and did everything in his power to spoil and slow Calzaghe's workratre down in the later rounds because he couldn't keep up.

Hopkins wasn't going to be able to come into a rematch with any more stamina, so the only thing he could do to change the outcome would be to KO Calzaghe, which wasn't going to happen.

Calzaghe won the first fight imo even though it was competitive it was also seriously ****ing boring so im not that bothered

I think those who voted yes need to watch this fight again. But then again, i'm sure most in here only watched it once. Hopkins pretty much ran after round 4. Calzaghe won that fight. Close but clear.
