Manny Pacquiao to me looked at his ultimate physical peak against Clottey. His speed and movement were freakish in that fight, so was his stamina throwing over 1230 punches and at the bell still wanted to go on with it like it was round one.

 

1.) Mayweather's not "past-prime"

2.) If he fights Pac when he is "past-prime" and Pac was to win Pac has gotten fans so delusional that they would claim Mayweather wasn't past his prime and Pac beat the undefeated best in the world Mayweather.

3.) When Mayweather beats Pac people will say Pac was "past-prime" or Mayweather caught him at the right time they'd have some excuse.

They may both be past their prime in the physical sense. But the ring I.Q has improved. Which counts for a lot as long as you're not totally past it which they both are not

 

Of course all fighters are past prime when they loose forb the first time or a big fight. Every boxing fan knows that

 

Athletically, Mayweather is not shot or really even on the decline.

His problem is fundamentaly, tactically, and timing wise.

He has too many "yes" men in his camp, and his layoffs are too long.

 

He was able to juice up pretty good for that fight. NO DRUG TESTING........



Floyd is older than Pac and has been fighting longer than Pac.Flyod is past prime and close to retiring with that said he still is going to whoop Pacquiaos ass.

 

and since when did biololgical age has got anything to do with boxing? style wise, pacquiao is older than floyd. pac was a swarmer who eats trade ups during and in between dangerous fights while floyd was a boring ass runner who hates exchanges whod rather retire than face the most dangerous fights. floyd is a lot fresher than pac could ever be. but despite of this floyds overwhelming advantage in terms of boxing age, pac is still very much willing to take on fraud mayweather and give him a shot at the P4P throne he abdicated for fear of losing it in the ring

 

Never said age was the factor,just stated he was older. Floyd has never been a runner and tjat is the biggest myth about him. He ran in 1 fight and that was strategic because of injury.

Floyd had aboutt 100 amatuer fights and 42 professional fighta so get the **** ouuta here talking Bout he is fresher than Manny.

 

style wise, an offensive guy is more likely to get hit too often than somebody who favors defense and runs a lot. and also, pac is small guy in this land of giants, hes fought some 80% of his bouts @130 and south of it. the impact of a full welter punch to a naturally small guy is much stronger than to a natural bigger guy like floyd. facts.

But I was giving a comparison. SRL's career was very similar to Floyd's, but he probably took more punishment. Terry Norris is also a better opponent than Ortiz.

 

Neither man is at his all time peak anymore, but it shouldn't matter. Ali-Frazier 3 is a prime example of two guys past the peak but still made an incredible fight. Both guys likely peaked in their late 20's, but they are both still very good and capable of making a great fight, but I'm really doubting it ever happens.

 

Maybe.Maybe not.He is in his mid 30s.The same can be asked about Manny,as he's approaching his mid 30s.If Floyd beats Manny,will Manny be considered past-prime?
