Which fighter whom, if he beat all fighters he fought, could be #1 ATG?

    The top guy that comes to my mind is Tito. Had he beaten DLH (legitly), Wright, Hopkins and Jones(fighting soon), it could be very well argued that he is the GOAT. That is solid resume on top of his already top of the line list of beaten opposition.

    Honorable mentions are Holyfield (had he beated Lewis, Byrd), Ali (had he beaten Holmes), Tyson (had he beaten Lewis and Holyfield), Patterson (Liston and Ali), Norton (Shavers, Foreman and Holmes) and Holmes (had he beaten Tyson and Spinks).

    But then again, guys like Julius Francis coudl very well be in the mix had he beaten all the guys he fought (Vitali, Tyson, Dimitrnko, Audley, Maskaev, etc) :lol:

    You summed it up in the last sentence....A LOT of guys could be considered the greatest ever if they had beaten all their opposition convincingly

    He would have beaten Chavez, Whitaker, Trinidad, Hopkins, Mosley, Mayweather, and a slew of other champions.

    What a ridiculous question, almost every boxer could claim to the no1 ATG is they had beat ever opponents.

    Tyson would of beat Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis...blah blah blah

    Not all beat high quality opposition so even if he beat them all, no one will be rating him as ATG. Bowe beat all fighters he fought, so does Ibeabuchi. So does Ricardo Lopez. Do you think you have a good argument in putting them #1 ATG?

    Even if Wlad beats all fighters he fought (Corrie Sanders), he is hardly a top 20 HW ATG, let alone #1 ATG.

    Audley cant even fight his way out of the UK, I wouldnt include him as an impressive victory that would put one on the way to greatness.

    What? I thought the default premise of the thread was that Audley was the number one all time great of all time ever?!

    Now I'm going to have to go back to the top and start reading again...

    Yep... for an active fighter, it's clearly Oscar.

    All time... possibly Sammy Angott.

    He fought: Henry Armstrong, Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Ike Williams, Beau Jack, Bob Montgomery, Lew Jenkins, Fritzie Zivic, Freddie Miller, Baby Arizmendi... among others.

    Very True.

    My opinion is Tyson - simply because of what people thought about him before he started losing. He was one of the most fear fighters ever. :fire

    Roberto Duran, already very high on the ATG list, would have a pretty solid claim had he defeated Marvin Hagler in 1983.

    He made a darn good go of it.
