First of all, great fight between both participants last night. One thing that we should notice though is that Appleby went back to his corner and sat down. Billy asked him something and he immediately started shaking his head signalling that he didnt want to fight any more. Then Billy pulled him out. This is a fact. He gave his all in the ring but instead of coming out like Walsh did when he was badly hurt, Appleby decided to quit.
Great opening statement :thumbsup Then you go and **** it up with this :-( Both these boxers deserve the utmost respect for last night.
I wont hold it against him, most fighters only quit when they absolutely have to and have nothing left to give.
Listen mate, of course they deserve the utmost respect. But are you blind or selectively blind because I'm just posting what I SAW HAPPEN IN THE CORNER.
I think he did say "no more" in his corner...but he had put it all on the line an was running on fumes so it's a good call. He's young and can come again, rather than ruin himself in 1 fight.
Once you quit like that though, it tends to have an effect on a fighter. Appleby might be done now. Michael Hunter is a great example of someone who quit once and then quit again when the going got tough. I'm not saying Appleby did the wrong thing though. Not every fighter has the heart of a Paul Ingle for example. But look at Ingle now.
Those kinds of fights put a lot of miles on the clock of both fighters. Gave it their all and have won even more respect from myself.
I saw him shake his head, but we don`t know what Billy said to him.Billy could of been saying i`m pulling you out son and the shake of the head was for that, but Billy had seen enough.Whatever was said it was a good decision and anyone questioning the lads heart can **** off as far as i`m concerned.
theres a big difference between being badly hurt in the mid rounds when your stamina is ok, and being badly hurt near the end of a fight when you have nothing left to get you through the next round.
Unless you were in the corner you know nothing for a FACT, Have you spoken to Billy or Appleby, could have been illy saying your sight is ****ed , i'm pulling you out and Appleby shaking his head? you know nothing for a FACT
it was paul who wanted to stop , not quit , but he couldnt go on anymore he was exhausted with the heat and obviously with what happened in round 10 , he said if he could have went o then he would have . i am glad he was sensible enough to know when enough is enough we dont want to see him getting permanent damage , he tried it just wasnt his night , but take nothing away from him he put his all into it .
