If they fought next month, what chance would Bute have of beating Kessler?

    I don't think he'd have a chance. I give him 20% afterall it's boxing, and I respecth Bute.

I would be surprised if Bute doesn't fight Kessler in 2009.

Joppy is a major disappointment, not just for Bute fans. This fight is a joke. I don't think Bute has fought worse opposition for a long time!

How is it that Kessler is now MORE overrated than he was going into the fight with Calzaghe?

He is a very limited fighter. He is good....not great. Said this before he lost to Joe (even said exactly what was going to happen in the fight...got it right to a tee), saying it now.

Bute is just the type of fighter who matches up with Kessler well. Whether he is experienced enough to do it yet remains to be seen...but I think he has a good chance.

    It's a couple of things, I think:-

Some of the people who gave Bute almost no chance at all:
    • have never seen him fight
    • are Calzaghe fans with an agenda - the lower the chances they give Bute against Kessler, the poorer the case for Calzaghe to fight Bute and the greater the difference between Calzaghe and Bute. If Bute is good but gets slaugheterd by the man beaten by Calzaghe, imagine how good Calzaghe must be!
    • anti-Bute posters/ posters who are fed up with all the hype Bute is getting and with all my posts about how Bute is the IBF Champ, and all that - revenge!:deal
    • are Bute fans fed up with the fact that he looked quite poor in his last fight, against Berrio, and who don't see how he will improve sufficiently to make a fight against Kessler competitive
    • are Bute fans who heard Bute say he couldn't compete against Kessler yet - he still needs time to develop and improve, and agree with him 100%
    • good, honest posters
On the other hand, people who give him a good to very good chance:
    • are those who don't rate Calzaghe very highly, and downplay Kessler's talent and ability to make Calzaghe's performance seem less impressive
    • Bute nuthuggers
    • Bute fans who don't rate Kessler because they bank on him not being as motivated after the loss and on his morale being lower
    • Bute fans who think Bute is a winner who will do whatever it takes for him to win, ultimately.
    • those who see something special in Bute and don't think Kessler is much better and think Bute's style is suited to winning against Kessler.
    • Bute fans who like Bute as a person and want him to do well
    • good, honest posters
    :D

Pantera2000: "I have to admit that I have never seen Bute fight", before voting for 5% chance of Bute beating Kessler. :conf

this is a fight im really looking forward to in the next year or two. both have knockout power in each hand, both are young have skills and both haveareas of improvement.

if they were to fight in the next year or so id say that MK would win by either points or late KO - hes faced the better opposition (mainly in calzaghe) and he will have learned from that.

the reason joe was able to win againt kessler with his jab is because he is a master of timing, distance and has speed that rivals PBF. Bute is good but his jab is not as good as joe's.

Changed my mind after watching some more Bute and Kessler. I don't think Bute's chances are better than 10% at the moment. :D

Bute is still and up-and-coming inexperienced guy who has a long way to go. Kessler is pretty much the finished product. In 2009, Bute should have more of a chance. At the moment, he boxes like a guy who betrays his lack of experience.

Bute would beat very boxer that Kessler defeated. So in this case, I give him a 50% chance...

berrio was hiting him clean. if kessler is the fighter he was before calzaghe, he'd tag bute with regularity.

The chances of Bute beating Kessler wouldnt be very high. Then against Calzaghe chances woudn't have been very high either back when he only had 20 fights on his record. Same goes for Kessler fighting Bute with only 20 fights on his record.

    :rofl
